Without clicking on pictures or infocons try and identify what you are looking at. Obviously this is the honor system. Also try and not zoom way out.

My version of "Google Earth" starts at the "Whole Planet" level and zooms in when I enter the coordinates... that makes it fairly easy to guess... how do I cripple this so I start at a certain "altitude" instead of "whole Earth"?

Pick a location like your house or something then click the view menu and choose, make this my start location.

That sorta works. It still pulls back to globe-skinning altitude before zooming back in, so if I go from "Home", to your coordinates, I know I'm in southwest Honshu.
