Default Pete's Day 1-26-11

Let me tell you about my day at work today.

One of my now ex-Marines got court martialed today. He received a Bad Conduct Discharge, 12 months confinement
and $978 fine a month for 12 months. He got caught stealing electronic equipment from other Marines. You play, you pay.
There is no price for his punishment, he will regret his actions for a long long time perhaps the rest of his life.

Sad. Someday he will realize how bad he screwed up if he doesn't already. What a way to ruin a great career.

you'll never work in gov't or for a private sector company doing contract work requiring a security clearance either.

I forgot to mention, this ass wipe was only in here for few weeks when he got caught smoking spice which is illegal and he was already pending his first separation but, the day before he got booted out NCIS caught up with him on the stolen equipment.

Sad to hear. Never a good day to see that happen. Bad choice at such a young age will affect so much of his future. Hopefully at some point he will change the attitude and find the grit to take his life back.

Hate to hear that.

One of my collateral duties was being the legal officer on the ship I was on for about 2 years. It's amazing that some of these folks do the things they do.

That's a shame. My nephew is a Marine. My BIL is a Major in the Army. My grandpa is a retired, life long military man.

In a Navy ship I bet you got some horror stories. I was in the USS Essex, Juneau, Ft. McHenry and Harpers Ferry. I was a Gunny at the time and I was amazed with the stories and actions sailors did on ships.

A tour on a US Navy Ship is what makes a Marine a Marine. In my book, you are not a Marine until you serve aboard a ship.

Often times I regret getting out of the Navy when I did and not making it a career.

One reason I chose to leave was that when I enlisted I was told I could go to OCS, but wasn't told that there was an age limit of 25 at the time. I enlisted at 24, but turned 25 in boot camp. Now at age 58 I often think how I could be retired, onto a second career, and have a nice pension and great memories to last a life time.

I do NOT regret serving though, and if they would take old bastards back..... sign me up Capt'n

One decision that will lead to a lifetime of regrets.

Parental supervision failed this young man

That IS his face. If he didn't want you to see him, he'd wear a disguise.

Why? Do you have any idea what Hokie or Mr. Thailand would pay for a picture of me?

Oh no No No

You see, right now I'm in my office doing a power point presentation for a brief, I'm also doing a By Name Assignment on excel.

I'm good at the basic computer skills. I can do my job in 2 hours, others would take 6-8.

So far today:

Meeting 0745-0900
Doctor 0930-1030
meeting 1100-1145

Everytime I get a minute, I jump in and reply to posts.

Yu'll see how great I'll get once I get Adobe Photoshop

I have stories of stupidity that would make Hokie blush. ... many of them based on the fact that it was a coed ship.

I will regret the decision on May 14, 2024; the day I would have been able to retire. I got out after 6. I loved my time in, got to meet some great people and got to do some amazing things, but it was time to try my hand at something new.

What I won't miss is living on a ship, finding out exactly how many ways you can cook a meat cube, sleeping on a 3 high bunk, taking showers with shoes on or else you get the funk, ... , and a few other things.
