DO NOT, and I mean DO NOT drink and drive in Austin. And I mean with ANY smell of alcohol on your breath.

The popo there are merciless because it's a college town with a tendency for a lot of underage drinking.

Austin is where I met Karen -- have fun! 6th Street is a blast just make sure it's not during the Track Meet...whatever that is..it's an excuse for all the Ghetto wanna be thugs to descend on Austin...what a mistake that trip was..security at the bar we were at, wouldn't let us back on 6th street, but insisted we exit the back of the bar to avoid that crowd.

But yup to answer your question it's an extremely Liberal/hippy area.

Austin is a great city. Nice weather, lots of slims.

Most of the male population are slack jawed liberal faggots.

But they are pretty nice and they appreciate the military. Almost every place I go into in uniform offers some sort of discount.

Thanks for the tips Heading down for a wedding and staying at the W downtown, so that should be fairly hippy-free. I think it's only a couple blocks over from 6th St, so shouldn't have to worry about driving around
