[FIREARMS] MantisX Shooting Performance System
I recently picked up a MantisX Shooting Performance system to help analyze my handgun shooting. The device attaches to your light rail (Glocks, Sigs, M&Ps, etc), and is synced via Bluetooth to your phone. Then it analyzes each shot and attempts to advise you on how to improve. It calculates your hold, trigger press and follow-through and lets you know where your shots are registering. It works with dry fire practice and live rounds.
If you work with it regularly, it dramatically improves your shooting. Here’s some screen shots off my phone. I included a couple of screenshots of me purposely getting sloppy to show what kind of feedback I got. Actually seems more useful than my LaserLyte Laser Trainer. |

That looks like a good set up. A big plus is you can do it on your own without having the instructor breathing down your neck.
I like how you tested it being sloppy. You knew what your problem was and it correctly pointed it out. Now you have to reset it and start over so the sloppy test doesn't drag down your average |

And SCCA racing too. SBW is known for only running hard enough to qualify for the nationals and then pulling all the stops outs for the Championship.
The cars are "supposed" to be equal but by sandbagging, he tries for an unfair advantage. |

It’s not sandbagging if I threw the shots merely for demonstration purposes.
I am consistently shooting 94 to 97%, which judging by some YouTube videos of the MantisX, is not that bad. Then again, I shoot every week. |

One of my greatest challenges was figuring out why I was consistently shooting my Glocks to the left. I don’t have this issue with 1911s, HKs, SIGs, or M&Ps. I finally figured out it’s because I wasn’t using enough of my finger. Years of shooting 1911s got me used to shooting with the pad of my finger. With Glocks I have to go almost to the first joint. Counterintuitive to everything I’d always been taught, but I can shoot Glocks much better now.
