Yes, you're pretty much alone. They take some of the best that motorcycles have to offer, while minimizing some of the negatives. You get to be out in the open air and use HOV (where available), with significant cargo capacity, but without having to worry about a half-dozen wet leaves in the middle of a corner leading to your demise. The only real downside for those used to motorcycles is that they don't lean in corners, which feels weird.

They were tested up here on The Dragon and surrounding roads and now we see them all the time, several every day. Mostly seem to be ridden by older gents and women. Seems to be a reasonable alternative for someone who either can't stand a bike up, or balance well.

My wife likes them too ( the cruiser version ). She doesn't want anything to do with learning to ride on two wheels again ( let's just say it's been a few decades since she drove a cycle )

They seem to be pretty popular with the cruiser group. Even Dan, the owner of the custom cycle shop likes the one his wife purchased. It's their "both on one vehicle" cruiser for trips. He said they came back from Lancaster in a heavy rain ( two hour trip ) and stayed dry. Right there is big plus.
