Posted: Jun 13, 2011 3:51 PM EDT Updated: Jun 13, 2011 4:36 PM EDT SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are reminding the public that it is a misdemeanor to call 911 unless it is an emergency. Police released a 911 call on Monday of a woman demanding her money back because her food order was wrong. This is a civil matter, not criminal, according to police. Police were dispatched because the caller was getting disorderly, but she was not arrested. She could have faced 911 abuse charges. In 2010 SCMPD 911 Dispatch Center received 248,774 911 calls and 165,920 administrative calls. They dispatch for the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police, Savannah Fire and EMS, Garden City PD and Fire, Pooler PD and Fire, Thunderbolt PD and Fire, Bloomingdale PD and Fire, Port Wentworth PD and Fire and Southside EMS. The non-emergency police number is 912.652.6500. |
