please help me 1999 Grand Am GT
It is late so I'll try my best to describe. The car won't start. The battery had died so it's been replaced. It wants to start but won't. Had done a security bypass and I think that is what my problem is now. I feel like the car isn't getting gas. If I spray in starter fluid through the air intake it will start and for a few seconds but other than that it just won't start. I just don't know what to think. I feel its due to the security bypass but I just can't get past that. I'm

Do you hear the fuel pump running? Should be an in-tank pump, and a definite whine when key is first turned to run, just before starting.
Could also check fuel pressure by tapping into the injector fuel supply line to see if fuel is actually getting to the engine. If not, there's your problem. There may also be a fuel pump reset switch somewhere (trunk maybe?). Supposed to cut off fuel supply in the event of an accident, but if battery died and caused the switch to cut off somehow, may just be as simple as pushing the reset button on that too. |

I'm not hearing a whine but I really never did.
I did check the supply supply line and no gas at all. Hum I think I'll have to look into that fuel switch. I'm also going to try and clear the PCM. But I've already killed the new battery I just got. So now I need to take care of that too. Thanks. I'm still up for more ideas if anyone had them. |

By bizarre coincidence, I just picked up a 99 Grand Am GT.
The battery was totally dead so I just charged the battery and started it. I didn't have to reset anything. What is the security bypass? |

I got the car fixed it was the fuel pump/module the one thing I had wished it wasn't. Damn it was pricey but she's up and running like a champ again. |
