It's usually over child support/alimony/the house or the kids themselves, who are stuck in the middle.

I lucked out twice on that. We never hated each other because we didn't go through any of those things.

They're both deceased now, so that's that.

my ex and I didn't have any children. It was a clean break; though I had to sue her 2 years later because she didn't fully follow the agreement in the decree.

My "darling ex" took me to court because she "deserved more" than what was agreed to previously.

My favorites expression is now "request denied".

Short version-- every time she brought up an issue, I would either have pictures or a piece of paper with her signature stating she received item "X" on a certain date.

The Judge would check everything out and then say "Request Denied" . My brother told me everytime the judge said that, she would look angrier and slump even more in her chair.

My best buddy got divorced around 1980. They had one son, who was about 2 at the time.

The lawyers especially drove him nuts. He told me that he toyed with the idea of making a pi pe bo mb and throwing it in their office. He didn't, of course.

The angst between them has never let up to this day. If on the rare occasion he mentions her to me, he won't even say her name, he'll say: "Yeah, and last week 'Billy's mother' was going to . . . "
