National Black Cat Day

I use to have a 2 black cats. One disappeared the other died a few years ago. Miss them... but they are in a better place.

I recently had a dream where I opened a door and a big back cat came at me. I turned around to run and the cat jumped up and I could hear the cat clawing the crap out of the back of my head. Then I woke up....


What are your run ins and experience with black cats?

Black cats get a bad rap. The are seldom adopted because people foolishly believe they're bad luck. Black cats are no different than any other cat: They all have differing personalities, but like most other cats, they're sweet and affectionate, even the males (neutered).

I have 3 of them, and although you probably couldn't assemble one complete brain among them, I love 'em to death.

I grew up around black cats. Always thought they were cool.

We have had 4 different black cats over the years
Samantha was our first cat as a couple and the first time Becki had a cat in the house. She was a sweetheart
Kiki was the second black cat. We got her as a kitten to be a companion for Sam. Unfortunately she was how we learned about feline leukemia and we ended up losing both of them
Puddy Tat was the best cat we ever had. She was queen of the house and if any other cat got out of line or did something bad she was all over them. When I would get home she would follow me around waiting for me to sit down so she could jump up on my lap and give me kisses. She lived to the ripe old age of 19

Our last black cat was Pooh. She was a piece of work, full of mischief and always getting into things.

We don't have any black cats today. We have three Tonkinese cats and one aging Calico.

We have a black cat that the wife got at the shelter.He just turned 14 but is as agile as day one.Found out years after we got him that he is a Norwegian Forest cat.He loves his heights,he hops up on my wife's shoulders and stays there forever also and acts more like a ragdoll,very friendly and you can pick him up and he won't attack you one bit.

Actually black cats are adopted A LOT, especially around Friday the 13th instances and Halloween. The local shelters make a point of NOT making them available during those times. Reason being: Many adopt them for the sole purpose of tormenting, torturing, and killing them.

I have 4 of them. And of all our cats, they are the nicest ones I have. I can't wear anything light colored and look presentable. LOL
