Jet boat or traditional outboard style vessel?
My 225 two stroke is a gas hog and I'm thinking of getting a newer smaller more efficient boat. What's the better bang for your buck, a seadoo type jet boat or a traditional OB with a newer fourstroke outboard? Does a 150hp jet boat perform like a 150 outboard?

My understanding is a jet drive uses more power for propulsion than a propeller drive.
You you do shallow water fishing or boating where you would get full advantage of a jet drive? |

Not too much shallow fishing, mostly deep water. |

Jet boats are (or can be) pretty maintenance intensive. Impellers, nozzles and such are prone to damage from weeds and sand if you go shallow. They are thrilling to abuse though and can dance better than a traditional outboard.
That said, since I prefer to boat rather than wrench; a simple vee hull/ 4 stroke outboard setup should offer more smiles per maintenance hour/ dollar. |

Sorry; not debating whether to get one or not, I was just curious about how long y'all get in the water up there. I definitely agree to go out on the water and enjoy the lake any chance you get.
