What's kinda interesting (to me anyway) is all the techniques he's using here, the fast alternate picking, sliding into notes, sweep picking, playing though changes etc are all done by todays rock and metal players. In other words, there really isn't much new under the sun and guys like Clark and Glen Campbell -Who was a MONSTER player- never really got the credit they deserved.

That’s entertainment. I always enjoyed the connection performers like Roy Clark had with the audience that went beyond their music.

Agreed. Throw Jerry Reed and Jim Stafford in there too, IMO, both super talented. They were definitely known in their own circles, but outside of that, just entertainers. 4-finger leads, multiple picking styles, clean sound, made it look so smooooooooth too!
Out of today's selections, I'd put Vince Gill and Keith Urban in the same group.

Glen and Roy were freaking masters! Roy's renditions of Malaguena and Flight of the Bumblebee are insane. When they were together, you could see that they just jammed with each other.

We all know that you do this, but I'd love to see you match any of these renditions. I'll buy a ticket to your next show in TX and fly down there.

Here is my challenge:

Flight of the Bumlebee
William Tell Overture

Clean.

Go for it!
I think you misunderstood me. I didn’t mean anything negative. I’m not knocking him at all or saying he is inauthentic. I’m a huge fan. I’m saying that he is having a blast and entertaining people in addition to being amazing. No criticism at all.

Nothing wrong with playing to the crowd. He is the whole package.

Lighten up Francis. I can’t play that shit. Why the hostility?

What did I miss? And yes, I clearly misunderstood you, as it seemed like you were demeaning his talent to focus on his clown antics. And, **** Francis

Not at all. For ****s sake the song is meant to be funny. It would almost be boring if he didn’t make faces. Almost. He is a comic actor as much as a musician. That is part of his brand.

I didn’t know you were so sensitive about Roy. Is there something you want to tell us?

The guitar is a Fender Jaguar. Not a particularly big selling model for Leo. Aside from the odd switching system, it’s other notable weirdness is it’s scale length. 24”.
