Default Finally got the GTO back home!

It's been a long wait with a tremendous amount of labor and custom fab work to get the TX Speed LS7 to work with a 1967 car.

ECS ran into a lot of challenges with fitment of the motor and T56 Super Mag trans and getting brackets/mounts in the right position.

New radiator, dual electric fans, mounting brackets, and a custom fabbed and powder coated air intake.

They replaced every wire, fuel line, brake line, complete new fuse panels; one a dedicated unit to drive the ECM

Completely new dash/gauge cluster

New fuel tank, mounting straps and in tank pump

The body panels, frame and interior are about the only unchanged part of the car.

The list goes on and on and it's been a long road (nearly a year in and out of speed shops) but it nearly drives like a current model car with a ton of horsepower.

Still shaking it down to work out some bugs. The biggest being what may be a vacuum leak somewhere. It stumbles in the lower RPM range and has some pop/backfiring.
Once it climbs above 4k rpm, it's an absolute animal and hard to keep planted.

Will try to get more vids up including an in car vid once we get a couple bugs worked out but I did spank a heads/cam Mustang on the way home from ECS

Scott

Beautiful. Now take it back to the shop and let them finish it to perfection... don't want to hurt that brand new bullet!

Sounds like it idles a little rough. I'd take it back to the mechanic and have him find out what's wrong with it.

Actually I think the idle is a result of the cam profile and is about perfect. Lopy but even. Sounds a bit like a 67 427 435 Vette.

When I cammed my Z (Only 3mo after buying it) I did it on the sly from my wife and she kept complaining something was wrong with it and I needed to take it back to the dealer and have it looked at

It's fun having something unique out there that has excellent road manners. Back in the day we had to put up with manual drum brakes and horrible handling.

I'm guessing it messes a few minds up when I scoot past them and throw it hard into a corner.

Nice, lol! I've sneaked a few expenses past the wife but she'd know a cam swap was done.

She used to help me swap drag tires at the track and has learned her way around enough to know better.

TX Speed built LS7 NA 427 cid 11.6:1 ~700 hp
Tremec 6 speed T56 Super Mag
Custom Moser M9 rear with 3.73 gears (will hold 1000 hp)
Wilwood disc brakes: 6 piston calipers front and 4 piston rears
QA1 level 2 full suspension kit:
12 way adjustable coil over shocks, tube rolled A arms, monster sway bars, end links, ball joints etc.
All new power steering unit with close ratio box etc.

Almost everything in it is new except the interior, frame and body.

I remember when the early FI adapter kits/plates were coming out. Really makes a difference in throttle response but they were out of my price range back in the day.
Those old Poncho blocks will take a hard beating and hold a lot of power.
Scott
