I don't give a damn if it can "tow" 50,000 lbs if you have to stop to charge it every 2 hours. That's absolutely useless as a "truck". All of the towing capacity in the world doesn't do any good if you can't actually go anywhere with it. For people like you who have nothing better to do than sit in parking lots and don't do anything that actually requires a truck, I'm sure it's just fine. Stop trying to convince the world that it's something that it's not. Do you ever stop the Tesla humping bullshit? Maybe you could at least keep it in your own dumbass thread instead of spewing it here on this one... |

I'd be curious to see that the Hummer does for range at actual driving speeds, as opposed to whatever maximized EPA work they did.
I saw this review of the Tesla to solidify the point even more: https://dongknows.com/tesla-model-y-...range-anxiety/ I knew the Tesla lost range at speed, but holy shit. Quote:
It sucks if you drive it at normal person speeds. I guess this wouldn't matter if you're the type who takes mandatory safety breaks and hot food stops every hour, but I'm guessing the majority of the folks in here don't drive at 60mph down the highway. As absolutely horrendous as the Tesla is, I'd be willing to bet the Hummer is actually worse. Even if you aren't going on longer road trips, range may become a limiting factor even around town. Might be something to look into. |

Again, worthwhile around town like a golf cart is. And then only in certain places...certainly not central CA where electricity is 54 cents per Kwh and you aren't allowed to charge during hot summer days. And of ZERO use in car or truck format over the open road in real conditions with hills, luggage, traffic, heating, and air conditioning. Not Ready For Prime Time. And will never be. Unless we re-up our nuclear power. As long as we're using fossil fuel to charge these toxic batteries supplied by child slave labor, what's the point exactly? Besides feeling smug by virtue-signaling we are enviornmentally hip? If you want to help the planet, drive 60 year old hot rods like I do with multiple carbs. My carbon footprint on these was gone by 1969.

I have an EV, well my wife does.
My other vehicles are a Ram truck and a Jeep Wrangler. Each has a task. Around town? EV all day every day. Quick, quiet, enough capacity to make a Costco run for anything other than furniture or a TV. This REALLY keeps us from having to use the gas pump as much. Driving the Ram around town sucks down the gas pretty quick. Truck's job is to tow our 30' travel trailer and make the bigger runs to Costco or Home Depot as needed. I fill it up when we take our trailer camping about once a month. When with the trailer, it sucks the gas, but other than that, it really isn't used. The Wrangler, well, that's the toy. For long drives, we have the truck and the EV (which is NOT a Tesla). We tend to go to St. Louis from north Alabama and we know the high speed chargers and plan our route to use them (yes, it's the fastest route). We use them so we only have to charge to 80% to get us to the next station. Why? Our EV uses the 800v architecture too, just like Hyundai, Porsche Taycan, Hummer EV, and a very few others use right now). We are ready to roll in under 20 minutes. I can live with a stop like that. Our max range in it is 300 miles with a full charge, but at 80% it's around 240-50. Going to full charge at fast chargers takes about 30-40 minutes. We WILL do that if we stop to eat a meal when charging, otherwise, just 80%. But.. we have no qualms about taking the Ram on long trips (it IS our trailer hauler and have gone cross country with it)... but when we can, we look at the charging station availability, where we're going and along the way, and decide beforehand. Is it ideal? That depends on your goals? Money savings? Yep. Time? Nope. Infrastructure needs a LOT of help and adding stations to FlyingJ/Pilot, Shell/BP, and other regular stations will be nice, but I don't have any expectation that it will happen quickly. Ev's are not THE solution. Never said they were, but they ARE an option for those willing to do it. The more they are out there, the more demand for chargers will be, and that will drive infrastructure and grid updates (hopefully!). Time will tell. We've enjoyed the EV and surprised a few with it. Including myself. I never thought I'd have an EV, but my better half wanted one after seeing a few friends with them and her lease on her car was up anyway. She's not really an environmentalist, but she does like the idea of not having emissions while driving. Our local power is mainly hydro and nuclear, with some nat gas and coal. We looked at the Teslas and thought the interior was done by Ikea. Screens have fonts so small, our older eyes couldn't read them. And who uses a shiny/gloss screen as the main display? Finger prints, sun glare, etc make them VERY hard to read. LOL She is not a Tesla fan at all. I get the arguments both for and against EV's, and see both sides. For what SHE wanted, it has worked well, and we've realize what it can and cannot do for us. |

The 2014 is listed at 20/28. Regardless of that, it doesn’t change the fact that driving at the speed that most people actually drive instead of 60mph on only 70 degree days seems to kill the Tesla. I simply picked one of many examples. |

We actually have two other gas guzzlers which we could take on a long road trip or plan our route and take the EV, if we pull the plug.
I agree with you RedLS1GTO, the interior surprised me how nice it felt and looked. I would like to have a different color than the Matte Green but it wasn't too bad looking in person. Talking with my financial advisor to move some money around and I'll see what we want to do. |

https://www.greencarreports.com/news...-200-000-miles
There is a Taxi driver in Germany with 1.1 MILLION Miles on his Model S, almost 2 Million Kilometers. He is on his 3rd battery after almost 2 MILLION kilometers. He went through 14 motors but the early Model S did have an issue with the motors. That issue was fixed with the 2015 model I believe. |

Interesting strategy. Not exactly how "data" works, but interesting nonetheless. On that note, users HDWSJ and Lasttoy from Teslamotorclub.com both had batteries fail before 64,000 miles. Therefore now with a sample size of 2 random people, I can now make the claim that the batteries will fail at only 64,000. With that said, between batteries and motors, he spent enough keeping that Tesla running to have bought a fleet of ICE taxi sedans. |
