I loved the 1970’s and would love to relive those years.

As an owner of many low mileage rubber bumper cars over the years including my current 17,000 mile 79 bought with 15,000 on the odometer, I questioned a few things about this car when I watched this video last weekend. Jeff is correct, there is considerable wear under the hood and more surface rust than I would have expected on the chassis and under the car. When you look closer, the original grease pencil marks and chassis tags are all in place so I think it's legit. Mine was also stored in that way for 26 years before it was taken out of storage. Several thousands of dollars were spent getting it road worthy. All new brakes, all chassis parts with rubber bushings, all belts, hoses and the A/C was converted to the current Freon. Threw on a Holley Sniper for drivability when I had the fuel system rebuilt.

The one difference is my car is pretty much pristine underneath and in the engine compartment and the interior is perfect. Mine has a few thin spots in the paint from the tarp that was on it all those years but I've been forbidden by the local Corvette club from repainting the car over the original lacquer. Pictures for comparison:

I agree. With the knowledge I have now. I sure let a lot of really great (and obvious) opportunities go to waste. Clueless at the time.

Here's the original paper tag on the coil spring of my '66 GTO. One owner car, driven by a middle aged woman from 1966-1981 and then parked until I got it in October 2023. 114k miles...had snow tires on it when I got it. It also still has original markings, etc. Never molested, never kid-owned. But far from virgin. Click image for larger version

I had a 1975 Corvette. I got rid of it when some old woman passed me in a walker.

If you had actually watched the video, you would have seen that EVERY piece of metal underneath the car is completely rotted out with rust. The entire electrical system is also trashed. Same for everything under the hood. The car...with the exception of the interior...is a hunk of junk. But you go ahead. Clean out the fuel sysyem and I'm sure it will run and perfectly.

I didn't watch the whole thing, but at 7:04 it shows the frame rail and the narrator says it looks brand new underneath.

I watched the whole thing. Nothing looks “brand new” on that car. Anywhere.

The car had significant damage to the wiring and will need a new harness, maybe both. That car will most likely require several thousand dollars to get road worthy, ask me how I know.

Until he says, "Except for the rust".

I know of two here in town like that, both 1978 Indy pace cars. One a guy I know bought new and it has 178 miles. The other belongs to a car dealer and it has 11 miles. A couple of pics of the 11 mile car. Check the fuel tank pics.Click image for larger version

Did you watch the video? I'm questioning it because it is clear that those ****ing idiots couldn't start a running shoe or run a glass of water. Expecting those mental midgets to actually do anything useful is humorous at best, dangerous at worst.

Not true. Every piece of metal under the car has surface rust. 25:14-25:57 is the underside of the car. If you think that's "completely rotted out," well, its not.

What evidence do you have of that? Timestamp where you see any wiring damage, please.

This is why they aren't worth much. Not because they need new fuel tanks and lines, but because two of them were put away in the same town. Classic case of a "Collector Edition" being way over collected.

I don't have a time stamp and I'm not going back to get one but in the video they show rodent damage to the starter cables and battery cables which is why they didn't attempt to put power to the car.
