Motorola Xoom prices announced; New Report of Next iPhone
Motorola Xoom to be sold for $600 and $799 with no contract
Motorola has confirmed official pricing of the Xoom tablet. But first, let it be known that there will be two models of the Xoom tablet to be released by Verizon - a WiFi only version and a WiFi plus 3G. The WiFi only version will be get the official price tag of $600 and the WiFi plus 3G will get a hefty $799. Both are unsubsidized and with no contract obligation. Obviously, Motorola is following Apple’s strategy of giving users to options of getting the Motorola Xoom. In fact, Motorola’s chief executive Sanjay Jha even mentioned Apple when confirming their official pricing for the Motorola Xoom. “Competing with Apple you have to deliver premium products,” said Mr. Jha who also emphasized that the Xoom’s operating system is also upgradeable. Meaning, users will not be stucked with the same Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS forever. But this is of course will depend on the rate of update that the Google developers will be doing for Honeycomb. New Report of Next iPhone, Cheaper, Not Smaller Apple is considering making its next iPhone cheaper than previous versions, but not smaller, according to a report Friday, the latest in a series of media glimpses of what Apple is planning next. Citing "people briefed on Apple's plans," the New York Times reported that Apple is weighing making the iPhone less expensive in order to make it more attractive than competing phones. However, contrary to previous reports, the company is not looking to develop a smaller device, with the next iPhone the same size as the iPhone 4, the Times said. Apple would make the iPhone cheaper to make by changing some internal components. Apple is also planning to add voice commands to the iPhone, the report said. Apple has traditionally introduced new iPhone models at its World Wide Developers' Conference in June. Last edited by Mike Mercury; 02-18-2011 at 11:10am. |
