Cancelled my home phone today

The Indian scammers won. 20 times a day I am called. Phone company won't suspend service without cancelling everything else, so I dropped the phone and am assured I can restart the same number in a month. So here goes nothing.

I think we have the same - so we stuck the phone in the office closet and never turned it on. No clue what the number is.

Same here. Comcast gave me a VOIP phone number with my package but I only think about it when it "rings" (gives me a notification someone is calling if I am watching TV.)

We're thinking of dropping our landline & cable TV. I feel like an idiot for not having done it already. We have Comcast/Xfinity which costs us about $185/month, and we watch NO TV at all, and half or more of our communication is via cell phone (voice/text).

We can get 5G internet through T-Mobile, our wireless provider, for $50/month, and it seems like any network TV stations that we might have an interest in watching are available through various online sources, i.e., Roku, etc.

However, I just bought some tickets for the billion dollar Megamillions drawing coming up on Friday, so all of these potential cost savings will soon become insignificant background noise.

I used to have a personal line, business line, and fax line. I dropped the fax line because of all the junk faxes.....spammers beat me. I dropped the business line when I got divorced and didn't need to separate personal and business anymore, but I still get business calls every blue Moon on the house line, even though most everyone has my cell number too. I do still use the fax on occasion.

I'll just give it two or three weeks, then have it turned back on and see if that stops the scam calls.

You must not do much business with the Feds... much of the communication I do with the military is via fax because there is no option if there needs to be a hard copy on their end. Although we do receive the POs by e-mail.....

I gave up the landline about 10 years ago. Then I cut the cord figuratively when I ditched DirecTV 3 years ago, and now I have actually cut the cord completely by dumping Cox cable internet about 3 months ago. I already had a Verizon cell phone so I got 5G home internet for my internet service for $25/mth. Runs all my wifi devices, computers, and TV streaming with no issues at all.

Now I have all these boxes attached to the side of my house doing absolutely nothing.
