Default Generator vs Power wall?

Hello Barnies?

I live in SOCAL and Edison just turned our power off due to wind/fire conditions. This got me thinking that this will happen more frequently since the electric companies can make their own rules. Was a pain to transfer meat to mother-inlaws house etc.. I have complete solar panals and electric car charger already installed. Would like good advise on what type of generator you think would work best for this setup. Portable? Generac? Must be something out there I haven not heard of.
Thanks in advance!

something with it's own fuel supply, not utility nat. gas (can also be shut off).

sized for ????? days/weeks of run time.

propane isn't as dense as diesel, but if it leaks, you don't get contaminated soil. 500 gallon tank will only get filled with 400 gallons (80%), but they are also a fire risk if the line breaks due to earthquake.

consider moving?

Happy with our generac, dedicated tank for it (propane). I don't know enough about powerwalls to recommend or not.

What? That's crazy. The obvious choice for a generator question would be a Corvette site. I mean why would you consult any generator or electrical forums when there's such a wealth of knowledge in the Corvette community.

He heard of you... and the stellar electric work, HVAC basic's, shipping of containers and fence building you excel in. Let's also not forger Yaddy and his Generator pad design, wiring and Boiler craftsmanship....

This site could make it's own Red Green sitcom

[yes, it's sleeting and I've had some de-icer alredy]

I have a 20Kw set of ground based solar panels (came with the house) and a similar spec'd Cummins gen unit on propane. I considered a power wall but for 15-30K, that is a lot of coin so I decided to stick with what came with the house.

A genny should be a 3rd source of power. Most ideal/efficient way these days is a large enough solar array to refill your power walls. I say "walls" because you should have at least 2 for maintenance/longevity/redundancy reasons. A 15 kW (YMMV) solar feeding two powerwalls, with switched grid power as a backup, and then a hybrid fuel genny large enough to refill at least 60% of your power wall capacity (for when the grid is down) is the best way to go.

There are more preppers and doomsday prophets here than anywhere else in the world.

Next you'll say he shouldn't ask about how many firearms and rounds of ammo he should have to safeguard the gold buried in his yard.
