Default Horizon: An American Saga

Here's a new western movie series you may all enjoy. Several established actors including Kevin Costner, Luke Wilson, Rose Byrne, Sam Worthington, Will Patton, etc.

Paid to see it on Home TV some time ago . . .

Also caught it on my iPhone on a Southwest Flight a few weeks ago . . .

Even had a Wagon Train sub plot like Taylor Sheridan's " 1883 "

Many Story Lines introduced to Hook you into some other "Pay Per" scenario when they find time to finish the Sagas

That Sheridan Dude got plenty of branding irons in the fire so to speak . . .

Too many Projects ~ not enough Cowboy Film Crew and Horse Extras to get 'em all out at once

This is a Costner project, Sheridan’s not involved. Apparently Costner has $40M of his own invested. Plans are for there to be four installments. It gets mixed reviews. I haven’t seen it; I have trouble sitting through two hours of anything, I don’t know if I could get through three.

Bumping this. Netflix now has the show available. Apparently there are 4 planned chapters. 1 is available for viewing, it sounds like 2 is near completion, 3 was ramping up but may be on hold based on the viewership of the first chapter. I liked it and hope to see all 4.

1883 ~ A Yellowstone Prequel = a Taylor $heridan project

vs.

Costner who wasn't satisfied with Actor Wages from Yellowstone alone . .
He Saw Sheridan Raking in Mega Buck$ from 1883 & 1923 . . .

So Costner with his " Dances with Wolves " Experience . . .

Thought he'd Jump on the Wagon Train and try to Make his own Big Buck$ by Acting ~ Directing ~ Producing ~ Writing " HORIZON " the Pay Per View Saga

In Return, Taylor Sheridan Whacked Costner's John Dutton Character in Yellowstone 2 minutes into the second half of Season Five . . .

Prob in a "Cowboy cycle" now for a bit, it usually goes medical shows, police drams, political fiction, sci-fi, maybe something else and starts around again.

Costner's best work in the genre was Open Range and Dances with Wolves, Yellowstone was just the old Dallas series intrigue in cowboy hats on horses - watched 30 minutes and was done.

I liked Wyatt Earp too. Waterworld was a flop in theatres too but it’s resurged recently.

His worst was that NASA flick with the unrelenting, totally unrealistic portrayal of the black female mathematician. The true story is compelling and a tribute to the lady.

The movie was just total BS for anyone who lived through that era.

Tombstone is one of my favorites, val kilmer had his finest hour.
I enjoyed Unforgiven, English Bob getting his arse beat was classic.

I have watched all in the Yellowstone series, the wifey joins my enthusiasm, I believe 1923 second season is on next month.

Also enjoyed both Tulsa King and Lioness, both Sheridan franchises.

Tombstone (Kurt Russel version) and Open Range (Costner) and Appaloosa (Ed Harris) are the modern iconic westerns in the spirit of Hondo, High Noon and Shane, uncomplicated, clear demarcations of right and wrong, and, without layer after layer of competing dramas.

The other drivel are the inverse, just lame, barely believable dramas set in a western venue.

What's barely believable about Wyatt Earp, Geronimo, Horizon, Young Guns, etc.?
