Default Cruise-In Florida Official Thread

Mods, can you make this a sticky?

Based on the Z06 tracking thread, I think there is a very real possibility that we can turn this into a Cruise-In. I'm looking for a month (Feb and Mar of '25) might be the best. December and January might be too cold for racing.

I can get us the track for a Saturday, Sunday, or both. I can envision a great BBQ with Filet, and plenty of other proteins back at the Wiz Compound that Saturday night. I can make the airstrip available to us for 1 or 2 days. There would be a fee (albeit nominal) for the cruise-in to cover track rental, food, and plenty of beverages, including my favorite...Macallan. We can do some drag racing, autocrossing, and whatever else fancies our tastes.

This thread is for feedback on interest, possible dates, and suggestions for activities. Many of you may remember Dining and Detailing with Datawiz at the old place. We could also include a day of that too.

Office date: Feb 28 - Mar 2

We'll probably start to ramp up around 3 pm at my house that Friday.

Wife, pooch, and I make an annual pilgrimage to Florida. Previously to Miami, that last 3 years to Plantation, to visit her Father. We are normally there from late April sometime to early May sometime. If both pooch and FIL are still alive next year (not a guarantee since they will be 89 and 13 years old respectively), we will be in Florida around the same time, and have added excursions to the beginning or end of the trip in the past.

If we go, it will be in my Explorer, so not a great opportunity for drag racing or autocross. But I could see us spectating for an afternoon, and attending a BBQ afterward. I have no problem chipping in for expenses, and/or bringing appropriate provisions.

Thanks for the reply! I definitely want forum input because this could be a much more epic meet up than any we've done before because of my access to the airstrip. Again, it's not about racing, that's just a fun part of it, it's about connecting with forum friends with great Florida weather.

Count me in, I am very flexible on dates.
Find me an e85 station, as do not want to drive with 4 5-gallon cans in the trunk.
I could bring the V2 to win the sedan class, but that would be a pussy move.

By a date of February or March, the 2008 Z06 will have it's 700 hp engine back in, and I'll bring it, and the 2009 to the track as well for comparisons. 2008 won't win any drag events due to traction, but might win some roll events. Honestly, I'd love to see my 2008 against my 2024 Z07. Prediction, Z07 wins...but 2,990 pounds in the 2008 is pretty light.

Will the C6Z be on e85, if so I think it would be hard to beat from a roll.

Currently both C6Zs are on pump gas. I may consider e85 for the 2008. Granted, the hp will go up a bit with that decision.

I'd probably try to be there with my 04 Z06.

2008 Z06 is 4 mpg on pump gas around town, 1.9 mpg on track. If it goes to 1 mpg on e85, I'm not sure I'm gonna notice.

I'm definitely up for it if I'm in town. I usually travel during the kid's spring break which is around March 15 to 23..

I usually head to Florida during that time and if I haven't sold my C7, Z51 convertible by then, I'll drive it instead of my DD. Sounds like fun.

I just need at least 2.5 months advance notice to book off a date with work so if someone gives me the heads up 3 months out I'll request the time off and I'll be there with the McLaren 720S or for shits and giggles I'll bring out the Model S Plaid. Probably 720S because it's cooler lol.

Cooler IATs, lessens detonation chance, cooler engine temps, lower cost, and for the tree huggers, lower emissions.

And, lastly, you meet some kewl doods with great cars at e85 stations.

HAHAHAHA, I love the threads on CF with owners seeking advise on a good, CHEAP tire.

Almost as good as the one on CF where owners are asking if they can use 87-octane.

Where In Florida? With enough notice, my wife and I might be able to attend. I'll bring our M-B AMG GTS.

SW FL, I believe Fort Myers has the facilities that DW frequents.

Naples is nearby, we can put on shoes and enjoy some fine dining on 5th Avenue.
