Progressing but slowly.
So securing the curved track, which I thought would be a piece of cake........boy was I wrong. Connecting ends would not match up to close the gaps, quite a bit of small hacksaw cuts to get the the track together..............I never went up & down on that scaffold so much in all my life.........

Stupid question, but why not lay the track before mounting the track bed?

Roughly. That black tanker, gave a good test shove rather fast around the curve, canted as I expected. I think it will work well.

Why not mock it up (at least by portion) first?

I did try that on the floor, however, not being the most precise in carpentry cutting the eight 90° curves, I'm also working with a track inventory of new and used with various lengths and curve angles. I knew my floor measurements would not transfer to the hanging structure as I would like.
I've managed to adapt, so far. I'm pretty pleased with how it's turning out.

Kind of hard to mock up 9' off the floor. The structure first then hand fit the track, it's working well albeit small cuts to make track meet. Plus this is fun work.

I mean mock up portions on the floor first using same dimensions as overhead.

Not as easy as one might think. In order to do that in this situation, I would have to dismantle the curves, set on floor, mock up the track on the curves, then re-install the track base.....not going to work in this case.

The outer and inner curves are not the same size in length or angle, outer is longer, inner is shorter, and at the angles already cut on base, it will not match to meet the straight-a-ways stretches, which are not adjustable tolerance-wise. I'm dealing here with 1/32" in exact track rail meet.

My ass backwards attempt to sure-up track rail meet-up is working, I got time, retired and all.

Liz and I visited the "Garage Majal" today and Norm happened to be there.
Yep, what a nice job he's doing on the train track. We didn't get to see it run, but I look forward to it soon.
What a man cave. The pics do not do it justice.
Thanks for having us over today Norm. We had a very enjoyable visit.
Oh, and I WILL be calling you for boating duty come Aprilish

It was my pleasure, glad you did stop by.
You and Liz will have to stop in again once I get everything squared away, trains are up and running now, just had to secure the permanent power wires.
Looking forward to a little navigating around the river.
Don't forget......crab cakes.

Finally finished the project yesterday, secured the last of the anti-derailment cable (actually the not falling on a car train wreck system).

Not afraid to WOT now, everything stays on track.
