We got 30"+ out of the last storm, and now there are bomb cyclone rumors for next week. The entire state of CO is at 104% on precip which is unheard of. We are at about 140% on the Palmer Divide.

I believe this is an El Nino winter, where the west gets weird weather and the east gets mild winters with very little precip.

That was true for us last winter and even more so this winter. It's actually been a non-winter.

'83 was the first one I remember them actually naming in CA as El Nino. We got hammered all winter. Tons of snow at China Peak and then the rain would come and wash it all away

I think you're right. I was going to say '82, but maybe not. Or maybe it was the winter of '82-'83, making us both right.

That was the first time I heard weathermen explaining "El Nino" as the reason for the unusually mild winter here in the northeast.

I remember being at my folks on Christmas Day then, and it was around 60 or more outside, no snow cover, and my dad sitting in his recliner looking out, and being amazed.
