I really enjoyed it, have actually seen it thrice, first at the movie theatre, then twice on Paramount+. I know Cruise is probably not well liked around this forum, but I do enjoy his movies.

Yes, and he is 60 years old. I'm not a big fan either, but he puts in the hard work in his movies, and I have enjoyed all of his.

I passed on it. So did the Oscars. I remember "Firebirds." Stupid ass movie and unrealistic.

When that is what you do for a living and they make a movie about it, the entire movie is nothing but faults

I saw the first Top Gun in the 80's having worked on the F-14s doing SDLM (Scheduled Depot Level Maintenance). The birds were COMPLETELY taken apart and rebuilt to fleet specs....12 hour days in a sweaty hangar at NAS Norfolk. The F-14s vertical stabilizer's are the size of an A-4s wing and when the original Top Gun opened with that inverted MIG/F-14 flip off the farce began. The F-14s tail fin wouldn't allow anything even close to that - a total BS shot. The F-14s were notorious for "flat spins" though and difficult to recover from - not many pilots did. Lots of other technical error in the movie or I would have enjoyed it more probably.

It was Top Gun and Star Wars combined. It was entertaining.. And to be honest, Tom Cruise did bring people back to the theatre with this movie.
Now, we need him to make a movie as to the origin of how Top Gun became about in the US Navy...

I'll watch it some day, whenever it gets to the cable channels.

The SO would go out the first day movies are released to stores, and buy the CDs at a reduced rate for the first week of release.
Since she's no longer with us (me), I have no interest in buyings CDs,
much less going to a theater, or streaming services.

Oh well.
I like Tom Cruise action movies, but like other actors, shut you personal
opinion pie hole.

Well, it's fiction, so there's that.

Yes, its called "willing suspension of disbelief" and crucial to fiction films and books - I just knew too much about the aircraft involved to buy in.

With updated birds in the new film maybe I could get sucked in more easily.
However I'm also not a big Cruise fan anyway...
