Default Working from Home

Most of the folks that are on this thread are either Ballers or grave dodgers, thus the concept of 'working' is a bit foreign. Well I got a new admin a couple of months ago, and I work remotely at least one day a week. I needed a bunch of stuff done today and of course she is MIA. I asked our IT / HR folks what is the protocol. They told me that staff reports can identify activity and she has not done jack shit for the last few Fridays. I am heading out west in a few weeks and flights are packed - she screwed up and put me in the Flange seats but my boss ended up in steerage.

Bitch getting a beating on Tuesday...

Sadly, its people like this who will ruin the work from home culture for others. you'll need to find someone with the pleaser personality to truly trust them. Its amazing they don't understand the concept of "work", and think its playtime just because they are at home. good luck in your search for a new admin.

My WIFE at age 72 here in a minit works from home on a computer with two screens hooked up, doing book keeping for folks all over this nation, business folks......as well as many local clients.....so it passes the time of day for her, beats TV and other boring hobbies....

so tele confr happen quite often 2-3X/week.....in addition to the more obvious straight phone or computer interactions....

at least she is comfy and not running round behind some sales counter, getting shot at by the jerks.....

Saw a few females that did good work and I respected that about them but the majority were nearly useless showing up for a few hours a day a couple times a week. There were also a few walking train wrecks, being anywhere near them on the job was taking a gamble with your life, simply no way to predict what stupid thing they'd do next.

Wanna hear a story? Working in a lumber mill standing with my back to a big dumpster heaped full of scrap. Forklift would empty it every half hour or so. This one nitwit apparently had nothing better to do so she tried to drag the dumpster out into the aisle so the forklift could access it easier. Whatever, but she had bent down and grabbed the dumpster tilt release mechanism to move it. Didn't even know there was anyone behind me. Heard the click and instinct kicked in. Did a standing broad jump and the lip of the dumpster slammed into the pavement two inches from where my heels landed leaving me standing in wood scraps up to my knees... That thing probably would have cut me in half

I have several relatives that work from home - daughter and niece....the niece works for GEICO and I can tell you they know very precisely how much she gets done each day, keyboard loggers and other stats tell the tale.

I absolutely hated having employees. Even in an office setting most weren't productive enough to justify their salary.

The last few years of my full-time career, though, I got so busy my biggest client basically told me to hire an employee or he'd have to find someone else. So I found a guy that was willing to get paid 1099, and structured it based on completed work. He worked from home, did most of the travel, and all I had to do was train him and review reports or drawings. He made more money and so did I.

After I moved to my vacation home and (semi) retired I signed over the company to him, so my clients all got a near seamless transition.

I also work at home, do my daily trade zig-zag, watch YouTube DIY videos, and drink an energy drink around 3 PM. When I have nothing to do, I start or resume a project. Today, I continued my 3rd attic extractor fan installation; the fan is installed, and I'm doing the electrical.

Speaking of trades, I was analyzing General Motors; dear God, their stock looks like a stressed-out heartbeat equalizer.

She is not bad on the eyes, but certainly not worth losing the missus for. I have never had a fat broad as an admin, but I have had a share of dumbarses. I find the uglier they are, the better they work. I literally had a senior guy from another company walk in my office and exclaim “Wow the women in this joint are ugly, did your wife pick em?”. Fortunately nobody outside heard.

Encourage her, totally voluntarily, to join this forum. Then we can gently explain to her the rules, new members MUST post pics. This absolves you of any potential blowback. Heck, I remember when Larry Spencer (RIP) got his secretary to post here. She had a good sense of humor, although I think she grew tired of our sophomoric antics rather quickly.
