23 or 24. Don't recall. Probably 24 because it's one more.

The thing with pricing on this stuff is misleading.

Ryobi, which is rebadged a bolens, poulan pro, snapper, troy bilt, and a few others....are generally 80-120 dollars and will last about 2 seasons.

Murray, which can come as homelite, craftsman,,, is the worst..not currently lasting 1 season...and cost 7p-100 dollars.

Toro is hit and miss....some have good fortune, some cant get a brake, usually cost 110-140ish
140ish.

Stihl...makes cheap homeowner grade stuff, not much better than toro style...and they make some of the best stuff...

I prefer echo, because .nothing is homeowner grade, its all commercial, there is no shit tier/mid tier/God tier seperation.

I bought a Cub Cadet ST228 last year and it worked just fine when I used it. I never attached the brush cutter blade to see if it would explode, though.

I've got a 25 year old at the lake, starts every time. The thing to hate about string trimmer's is the STRING! It shreds, it doesn't "tap" out, taking it apart all the time to fix the stupid string. This year I'm trying one of those metal/plastic blade conversions for it. maybe that'll be the answer.

BTW......wear boots and LONG pants when you use it or you'll be sorry!

I have a 4 cycle Troy built with the jump start. I like it, not because it works and trims well, but because it addresses two issues that I always hated about trimmers. Mixing gas and pulling on the stupid rope trying to get the piece of shit to start. Now I put gas in it, check the oil and use my cordless drill to start it.

Stihl or Echo, keeping in mind Stihl makes a few different grades of product.

And during the 80's Sears re-branded Echo under their label, but it was the same quality of product, not tiered.
