Frontend Shimmy on a 68 L-71
Hey folks, I have just been reunited with a 68 L-71 that I grew up with,,,We built it as a show car when I was fourteen,,,Now after 39 years my best friend passed away and his wife wanted me to have it. I love the ride. Nice care, radical paint 427/435HP, but built way over 575 hp, 4 speed car. It has taken 1st at show well over 50 times.
It is streetable and I have been driving it, but I am getting front wheel shimmy, especially at low speeds on some uneven road. I understand that running the wide 295- M50 type dunlops will give me some shimmy,,,but I am wondering if it has more to do with the brakes, "rotors, calipers and possibly tie rod ends" any ideas. Have not had the chance to get into it as I am still putting together the L-82 425HP engine for my other ride. ANY IDEAS????? |

Ditto. Tires are the most common cause.
