40°f here today. We're below 2000 feet and one of the longer grow seasons in the central/northern part of the state. Vehicles parked in insulated shop (with a heater if needed).
Cold weather clothing keeps you toasty outdoors for the sub 30° temps on occasion. Below double digit temps and we just chill inside or in the shop. A little over an hour to the main airport if ya need a break from winter.

Neighbors horses down below sunbathing in winter.

I do like the idea of an electric gate. Looks to be close enough to the house so that running power to it would not be an issue.

I have a light post near the end of the driveway so an automatic gate would be easy. But I like to try the simple solutions first.

One hundred feet past my driveway is a T intersection and the road itself curves. Floridiots were unable to negotiate the curve and were tearing up the grass at the edge of the pavement. A series of low rocks on the grass at the edge of pavement has worked to correct the situation going on ten years now. And no cost to me, the only maintenance being a few extra seconds with a weed eater.

Put in one of those one-way tire spike grates that you can't back up over unless it's lowered. Then charge them $50 to lower it so they can move along. If they refuse, impound their car and turn them into slave laborers making doo-dads to sell on the internet.

I suspect that much of the turning around is within the county road ROW.

And unless the road is privately owned, Mr. Yadkins rock appears to also be on the county road ROW.

All the shots of the cottage/house/cabin up to now have been from the drive looking at the house. That showcased a very classy cottage in beautiful surroundings. But, turn around, and it looks like one of those English places that is right smack dab on the road. And there is traffic on that road. Time for a 12 foot tall stone wall and wrought iron gate. A rock the size of a Costco hotdog will do zero for life quality improvement at the Yad Manor.

That stone wall and gate will need to be within his property line. And if, as I suspect, there is a county ROW...people may still turn around in front of his gate.
