Default C8 in anger impressions

So I took 3 laps and GWiz took 2 laps. The first lap I took, I let the D transmission do the shifting. This car had a LOT of understeer. My 2nd two laps I did pure manual mode, and it was much better. Where the automatic trans was going into 3rd, you lose engine braking front grip on the tires.

Will post some videos tomorrow. Laptop still in the C8, and I need it to read the card from the PDR.

GWiz took 2 laps and beat me by 7/10ths. I rode with her on lap one, and her driving style is so smooth and refined, and she was slower, but got my fat ass out for lap two, and she kicked my ass. Now that I have my own car again, I will be getting seat time again. I've become stale not having a regular ride for the past 6 years. That changes now.

I let 5 different people do 0-60 pulls in it, and every single one of them was grinning from ear to ear.

Aren't we supposed to build our children to be better than us? Besides, she's 140 pounds lighter than me, and I had a passenger in all 3 of my runs.

It was also a treat to have Simpleman68 join me at the track. Took him for most of those runs. He's a drag racer, so he didn't drive at the track, but he got to drive on the street when we went to get lunch for the club. Although, he was a pure gentleman, and didn't get on it.

I'm extremely proud of that fact. GWiz is going to win a jacket in this car at Nationals next year. She was a little confused...her left foot, and right hand were completely confused. She only drives manuals.

I saw no mention of anger in your post?

I just came here to say do yourself a favor and don't drive a Corvette when angry... Learned that lesson a long time ago

Can confirm, grins were had

And I'm used to some fast toys. Still surprised the tires (stock) didn't break loose on that launch. I'd say a nod to refined suspension as much or more than the nanny controls which were seamless.

Get that pig into some cool weather and see what happens.
I'll bet in Jan you'll see at least 2/10s fall off

This is the thrill of drag racing for me, at least with a stick. It may seem like a quick deal but there's a tremendous amount of planning, strategy etc into maximizing a cars ability to hit a certain ET.

What RPM to launch at, shift at. How tall a tire to run, what air pressure, how to stage correctly.

And then there's the adrenaline rush of 0-100 in the high 6 second range and crossing the traps at 140+ mph (and I'm the slow poke of my group)
Some guys are pushing 175 and have to deploy the chute (hang the laundry)

It's also fun running heads up next to somebody else. Sometimes their car does things nobody expects and that gets interesting too.
Scott

This run would have taken 2nd in SS class.

Off the showroom floor, alignment and tires...which are complete crap for my sport. Next month will be proper.

GoPro angle on first run. Less fast, but not bad. I need to mount the camera higher to see inside the cockpit.

I love watching road racing but my heart is in drag racing.

I like the "It's not how fast you go, it's how fast you get there" sport.

What needs to be different about the alignment?

GM dials in a lot of understeer from the factory because the traditional Corvette owner likely has little to no experience in a mid-engine car. Mid-engine cars like to snap oversteer if you lift in a turn.

So, as I witnessed, the car pushes a lot. Dialing in some negative camber, a tiny bit of toe changes front and rear will make it turn WAY better.
