Default Got cleared for surgery...

Cardiologist signed off on my Afib condition and greenlit the hip replacement surgery. Good thing, cuz the pain doc I went to on Monday was a dipshit, tried to drag crap out and blame it on my back, and schedule an MRI.

Script for pain he gave did absolutely ZERO. I'm in bed before 5 pm every day now, because it's the only way to escape the 9.5-10 pain in my hip during waking hours. This surgery will be life changing for me, as my mobility is about a 1 these days, and as stated, pain is at/near the top.

I've been wondering why you hadn't had it yet, thought it was time.

Good luck and speedy recovery.

Bet it'll literally be a life changer.

Prayers sent and have them measure twice and cut once. Don't want to spend the rest of your life walking in circles.

Good luck!

Several people I know have had theirs replaced, and said it was "life-changing" within days of the surgery.

I feel your pain, I'm in my 6th week of recovery from hip replacement surgery.

Same thing, 9 - 10 pain and bone on bone for 9 months as I had a sciatica at the same time, same side and tried PT that didn't work of course.

Anyway, good luck! I'm almost walking without a hitch, have some stiffness in my lower back from favoring the bad hip, but have been pain free for the past 5 weeks now.

Had 2 Oxy's post surgery, first 2 days, Tylenol arthritis for about a week and nothing for pain since.

Try to avoid the opiod pain killers as they will plug you up. Tough to do as the first 48 hours are a little painful. I avoided them. With general anesthesia and taking only two Oxy's, it took me 3-4 days before I took a shit.

Hope you have high handi toilets, makes it easier and less pain to sit.

Have a comfy recliner, I spent the first 4 days in it, all day and night. I used a walker for the first week, cane for the second and part of the third week and been mobile without aid since.

Ice packs on my quad were great pain relievers too.

Pain meds I took leading up to my replacements really did nothing. You have probably heard this from us but rehab is very important. You can do most at home.

Rehab will help you feel better also. If you happen to find swelling in your feet. You're up too much, lay down raise them and should go away after a while. Tips can be endless.

Ice packs afterward at home will be nice and will feel good. After I got home, I was using Ibuprofen

I hung out on the couch for a couple weeks. For some reason, sleeping on the bed was very uncomfortable.

I'm 5 years out after both hips. When I was approaching a year, you couldn't even tell I had them done.
