Who has gone to an artificial Christmas tree?

Will probably do a faux tree but I'm guessing I'll be pretty old before that happens.

This year the kids picked out a 14' tree for me to cut down at the tree farm. so up it went. Canaan Fir.
Still not done decorating it.

Not bothered with even the fake tree in years now, just an 18" tree on a speaker under a window....plenty of other decorations though, but not outside

all the grandkids in the burb are long gawn.....

We went fake after a good friend of ours had an "incident" last year with a live tree.

On Christmas morning when the kids were looking at the presents they kept asking why there were so many bugs on the presents. After the parents had no clue what they were talking about they walked over to investigate...there were spiders EVERYWHERE!

Apparently there were spider eggs in the tree and after being in a warm house for a couple weeks the eggs hatched. They said that there must have been 10,000 spiders on the walls, the presents, the furniture...everywhere in their living room. So they had to drag the Christmas tree outside on Christmas morning and they even said that some ornaments had to be thrown away because there were spiders embedded into them.

Well...I don't want to go Clark Griswold on my family so figured a fake tree would help prevent that from happening.

In our earlier years, we had real trees, including a couple of live ones we planted afterwards at our first house. Then we got a good deal on a plastic one, & used that for several years. Then mostly by my doing, we stopped having a tree after our kids got older. Compared to my wife, I'm the "Bah, humbug" type.

This year we have one; first time in about 30 years. Bought a 7-1/2 ft pre-lit tree @ Home Depot for ~$200. LEDs blink, change colors, etc., & came with a remote. If I can successfully repair one of my locomotives, we'll have my Lionel trains from the early 50's running around it.

I've got a 7.5" GE in the living room and a 5" GE in the bonus room with led lights that can be all soft white or multi-color and have foot pedals.

They are fantastic fake trees btu at the same time another piece of evidence as to why GE is a mess. WTF is General Electric making Christmas Trees???

What do the foot pedals do? Soft, Practice and Damper/sustain, I suppose?
