Front Tire Issue
The first 5 pics are of my front left tire. As you can see the inboard of the tire is separated in one area & tread showing almost all the way round.
Last two pics are of the right front. It has some wear on the inboard side but nothing like the left. I've been told C6 have been known to have this problem w/ factory setting the fronts at a 3 degree camber. Another source who has not seen them but was told about, said that was BS it was a toe in problem and alignment issue. I want to know what the Vette Barn Experts have to say. Vette has over 32K miles. Bought used. Not for sure if OE tires, but think they are. They are Eagle F1, P245/40ZR18. |

Eagle F1 are OEM Tires from my Knowledge. I would take it to a alignment shop or a Suspension Shop for a opinion. In my experience and by no means am I an expert would lean towards a Ball Joint or a alignment issue. If no suspension issues then maybe a faulty tire. Do you have the issues on both tires, my bad post stated different? I assume you run the proper air pressure? Keep us posted.
It's a known issue that the factory eccentrics are prone to slipping. This may be B.S. But is a starting point, at least worth checking out. http://www.smokinvette.com/corvettecamberkit/ Last edited by Garb55; 11-13-2009 at 9:36pm. |

I had that problem on my C5 but didn't discover it until I had worn both front tires down to the threads. Yikes! I got an alignment and new tires. The "new" tires now have 20k on them and they still look good. I got Pilot Sport ZP to replace the Eagles and they've been great. A lot quieter, too.
Good luck! |

Just saw this thread, so I may be too late to be of much help.
If the car has 32K on it, I can guarantee you that those are NOT the original tires. 20 to 22K is all you can expect out of the OEM tire. The wear pattern doen't look too bad so I'd guess you have a tread separation issue. Looks like the tire has had a few too many heat cycles. Maybe it was run low at one time and you're just now seeing the results. I'd show the tire to GoodYear and see what they say, they just might prorate the tire for you. As mentioned before, get a new set and then get it aligned by somebody with a Hunter Laser system. FWIW, I'm headed to Ruf Auto Centre in Carrolton tomorrow to have them check the alignment on my 2010 Z06 just as a precaution. They did my 08 and that puppy was a stable as a rock @ 140. |

After reading this I was curious about mine and surprisingly I am seeing the same tire wear patterns. The only difference is that the right tire seems to have more wear than the left.

Got new rubber!
Last tire they did (Right Front) - The wheel is BENT!!!!! Went to see a guy I know at a local dealership for alignment. He said not to waist my money getting an alignment now to replace the wheel 1st. I haven't hit anything & and hubby hasn't either. So it must have been like that when he bought it. Damn!!!! I can't win!!!!! |
