I get good anthracite hard coal from PA. Last year it was around $230 per ton, hadn't changed much for years.

Last fall it shot up to $430 per ton cuz of Washington. Only needed two tons this year, so still kept it 75-80° inside.

Although it did go down to -12 one night, most of the time I've been shirtless to deal with the heat.

Growing up in the Appalachians in Pennsylvania, we had a large coal pile down by the swing set. As the youngest child (and only boy), it was my job to go down there every day with the coal scuttle and knock the snow off the pile and fill the coal scuttle and haul it back to the house. Big chunks of coal, added to a log fire, kept the house toasty in the winter.
