That was a funny show, and served to demonstrate the uselessness of opinion surveys along with the stupidity of the general public. I recall one survey "name an imported beer", and #1 was Michelob.

I get the Macan. Its a way to say you have a Porsche. But the reality it is no different than an Audi or VW using the same chassis. Very few things are different.
Kind of like, Buick/Pontiac/Chevrolet/Cadillac, or Toyota/Lexus. Honda/Acura, BMW/Rover
Lamborghini Gallardo/Audi r8/10s
My cousins Gallardo has allot of Audi embossed on parts.
Look under the Macans hood..
You want a Porsche, get a 911.

I remember in the mid '80's a brand new Volve Sport Wagon came into our shop. Bright red, turbo, 5 speed, ground effects, mag wheels, etc. At the time there was none of this crossover shit. A wagon was like a minivan--for hauling kids or dogs or plywood. People who wanted a sporty car bought a two door coupe or convertible with nice proportions and power and handling.
We laughed at the Volvo and the poor guy who drove it, he told us it was a compromise he had to make with the wife. He wanted a 911 or Miata or BMW, and she wanted a Volvo or Suburban, etc.
Today, crossovers have taken the place of the wagons of yesterday, and many are as tall and easy to get into and out of as a 1940's car, which makes them attractive to the Geritol Set.
That Volvo Sport Wagon? It actually hauled ass, handled better than 90% of the other cars out there, and had better brakes than 99% of them. In spite of looking ridiculous, it was a hell of a car.

I remember in 1971, when I was at a stamp shop in Walnut Creek CA buying stamps for my stamp collection....mostly the colorful British Colony stuff. I was 10 years old. It was a rainy day, and I heard a 'thud' from in front of the store and saw my first Audi, a Fox. A '67-'68 Firebird had tapped the Audi in the trunk and the Audi was basically totaled. Complete accordion. The Firebird didn't even have a dent in its chrome beak. I thought right then and there "what a piece of crap!". Ten years later down the road, working on them, all through the 80's (Remember the Audi 5000 running-through-the-wall epidemic that caused ALL cars to have to be fitted with a gear shift lock that was brake pedal activated?), 1990's, and to this day....a continual stream of failed electronics, out-gassed plastic, oil leaks, and early deaths.
I wouldn't have an Audi to use as landfill.

You guys are about a day's drive apart, IIRC.

If I were closer I'd come out to visit and get a steak or whatever. Not to fight.
