I’d also suggest going ahead and pouring the pad, sizing the gas line and the electrical for a 20kw+ unit for when it inevitably is upgraded.

I’ll bet you won’t. On a new construction, getting those guys to pour a little extra will be much cheaper, and I know you appreciate $$.

For a retrofit, no doubt go with the precast.

WalGenerMart recommends 18" clear at the rear, and 3' min from the unit on the sides and front. For my Burnham boiler, they recommend the vent be no closer than 3' from an inside corner (measured from the centerline of the vent).

Codes are adopted by governments; recommendations/ requirements are made by manufacturers.

Nope.
AC unit = precast
Generator = precast

It’s the economic and wise move. It eliminates me having to properly size the pad.

And leveling the pad is their responsibility.

We can buy the precast pads in different sizes at Lowes and Home Depot here. Nobody pours a slab for hvac units or generators.

Building codes are laws that set minimum requirements for how structural systems, plumbing, heating. I am a avid over builder. Yak is a minimum builder. That is where we differ. Me better safe than sorry Yak that's close enough.

Incorrect. That is the spec recommended for optimal operation of the equipment . It does not speak directly to the pad.

Btw- it notes a composite pad. It’s a vibration/sound isolation pad. How’s that going to work with your unleveled pad and those spacers you plan to use to level the generator?

Because Floriduh.

Here at elevation 4900 our design ultimate wind speed is 150mph. That equates to a component wind load of 33psf. So I need a pad weight of at least 317# to prevent overturning.

Your hurricane wind velocities are probably higher, and I suspect a component wind load of as high as 47psf. So not pouring a pad puts the duh in Floriduh.
