I would not slope a pad that small for a generator or AC compressor.

A generator or AC pad is not a sidewalk.

And I have not seen a minimum slope code requirement for sidewalks. I have seen maximum. I believe it’s 1:20 on “steep” and 1:40 on cross slope.

Neither is a road, but 1/4"/ ft is still a minimum cross slope. Otherwise it won't drain, and the equipment frame will rust. You can use 1/8" / ft if you are very careful, but you run the risk of a problem later should the pad settle.

6% is the max superelevation on highways anywhere you have snow and ice. Otherwise a stopped vehicle will slide. We use that for parking lots for the same reason.

Why are you putting the generator there?

Furthest from the master. Close to the existing propane line and the main panel. In the backyard so can't be seen from the road.

Most equipment (AC and generators etc) have a raised bottom pan usually on small applied feet or raised “feet” stamped into the pan.
Here I always work to have such pads level for aesthetic reasons.

If you purposely slope that pad yours may be the only one like it in the world.

I am sure being an engineer he knows what he is doing being a numbers guy and all. You have to have a slope or the water will get too deep and flood your equipment.

We slope our garages here as well. Maybe Floriduh is different.

Won't be the first time that I've built something perfectly functional that was also one-of-a-kind.

A garage is not an equipment pad. I promise you that you won’t find a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or other contractor who purposefully put slope on an equipment pad.

I do find it amusing that when discussing the equipment pad, you went to sidewalk. Then roadway. Now garages.

That goalpost on wheels? What’s next bridges?

All like examples of good design. I didn't realize until now how upset this made you.

Yes because a road or driveway is similar to a 7 sq ft equipment pad.

I'm sure the typical installer could tell the difference between perfectly level and sloped 1/4"/ft. Or care for that matter.
