Default Debating building a hotrod...

Dad has the 65 Mustang vert.

My brother in law who recently relo'ed to GA has a protouring style 69 Charger with a 440 that is almost competed..

Everyone lives within 20 miles of each other.

It sure would be nice for all 3 of us could load up the fam's (mom and dad in the mustang, sister husband and niece in the MOPAR, and me and the wife and my two girls in whatever) and hit the road on cruise nights, for car shows, etc..

May I suggest a '70-'72 Monte Carlo? Nice ride, good looks and plenty of room for four.

( I had two '72 Monte Carlos )

Build a GM product. Then you've got the Big 3 covered.

Leaning towards a 62 Impala/Biscayne or a 66/67 Chevelle (hardtops)

Both are reasonably affordable so i can build them for a reasonable price.

That's cool. I'd build it w/ factory or after-market air to keep the kids and the wife comfortable.

I realize it's a subjective term, but building either of those from the ground up is not exactly what I would consider "reasonably affordable".

$30k is a reasonable.

I'm not trying to build those cars per say, but that is the stance and look
that I would go for. I'm thinking a big block like 454, 700R, coilovers, disc brakes, rims and tires, paint, OE interior, and that's about it... I wouldn't be building a show car, just a nice driver. Also the two cars I picked are readily available and you can find them for relativley cheap.

You will be suprised how far $30k can get you.

This may be the most cost effective way to go and just do the suspension, brakes, wheels, etc after the fact...

It all depends on the level of quality/performance you are trying to achieve......

Definitely cheaper to start with something that someone else has already sunk some money in vs starting from scratch.

I'm 90% sure that I'm going to pull the trigger on this one as yet another project, I'm may have to talk it over with someone first.
