Fords don't hold up in crashes. Saw the results of a utility truck hitting a chevy truck from behind and pushing it into an F-150 and the F-150 was crumpled while the chevy wasn't.

The weird thing is the amount of crumple doesn’t necessarily mean much...todays cars are made to crumple in specific ways to absorb impacts and keep that energy away from the passengers. I was rear ended when I was 15 in my Keep Cherokee, the roof buckled around the passenger doors but all 4 doors still opened ok...it totaled the car but it performed as designed.

Been happy with the wife’s 2015 RDX. Just hit 100k, timing belt recommended, ~$1,500. Sat in some MDX’s at the auto show. Sick. They offer a rear captain chair package, looks super nice. Decent power,https://www.acura.com/mdx

That said, the Honda/Acura paint is super thin, been that way on her 2005 and 2015.

f150 with v8 and 5.5 foot bed. I get a new one every 200,000 miles which for me is right around 4 years. those trucks have been very good to me, and can even act as a pickup to some degree with the short bed. you don't need to get the platinum trim, xlt is fine.

by design. replacing a vehicle is way less expensive than paying for medical for the rest of an injured life. the Econoline vans would drop the engine down and rearward in a front crash to protect the occupants. truck would be a disaster but people walked away unscratched frequently.

That is exactly how the engineers that design such features into the car always explained it back when I was working in the car business and would attend manufacturer ride and drives.

It's much easier for insurance companies to replace cars than to fix injuries, even minor ones. To them a broken arm or a soft tissue injury is a six-figure loss.

Well a lot has happened since yesterday morning and today. We were involved in an accident with a Porsche GT3Rs while we were in the Sonata. While we were hit by the Porsche we were almost rear ended by a much larger SUV behind us while we all slammed our brakes. We are perfectly fine, just a really scary event. It’s making me think it’s time to replace both of our cars

So I picked up a Dodge Charger for a test drive...I dig it, but it needs more room for the car seat and a few more cup holders would be nice for our car pooling.

Chris, Glad I dumped the Denali when the trans started acting up the first time. Not glad I dumped it for the V. Am glad I dumped the V and have the Jeep Trackhawk. At 707 supercharged ponies it gets out of the way of everyone. Back seat should fit the car seat as well. Not going to be in the low 40K range, 18's are holding around 65-70K for less than 15K miles.
Good luck on the search.

Both my wife and I gladly pay the "fuel mileage penalty" and drive heavy vehicles. I have a Suburban and my wife has a Tahoe.

I figure both of us being "green" is staying on the green side of the grass if we were to be in an accident.

( I know when the Subaru pulled out in front of my other Suburban, it got punted out of the way. She got flat bedded and I drove home with a slight bend to my bumper and a broken turn signal lense)

Even when it crumbles into a small package that looks to have crushed the passengers? They were injured pretty bad.

Lucky you. I worked at the end of the line before they went to repair. A lot of them went to repair and many were tore down. Several failed in the test cell. A bunch were sent back to Cummins from Mexico due to a problem that we then had to tear down the engines and do them over.
