I never made it to Tinker. I was at a school at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls Tx, so Altus wasn't a far drive. Some of the most desolate country I've ever seen out there. Would not be a good place to break down. Yeah, Altus is backwoods for certain.

I have to get up very early for my volunteer job at the hospital tomorrow. These six day weekends are killing me.

Born/raised MD, when we first moved to OK I was shocked by the utter flatness, lack of trees, hills and no ocean in any direction. There are a few negatives, but the cost of living/taxes are great. People are nice. There are some pretty backwoods places, fully expect to hear banjos playing and deliverance characters pop out from behind a meth lab.

LOL Yes, I knew there was no ocean, but had never seen that landscape, was still in high school, so had no choice but to relocate with fam. On the E coast, the land flattens out and there are fewer trees as you get closer to the Atlantic. I did make the comment as we drove into OK the first time, that it felt like we were getting closer to the ocean. My Dad made a comment similar to Madd~E's. |
