Change out the plastic oil pressure line with a brand new one. If this oil line was to snap off or brake while to motor is running, oil will shoot out everywhere! Don't ask how I know.....I'll tell ya....I had my car stripped to bare glass when I started the fresh motor, the line broke and oil sprayed all over the body.....had to clean it thoroughly......

Thank you.

Will source some. Wild they were left off.

Getting correct steering column mount in this week so getting insulation on interior firewall now.

Got dynamat installed today, I kind of enjoyed that.

May have a friend of a friend coming to help workout wiring and mechanical stuff.

Have you reached out to the Corvette club there in Ok city? If the members there are like the ones here then you will have all the help that you would need.

I have not. The jaguar club was absolutely no help.

Most of the guys in the know were in their late 70's - 80's and ddn't get out much or offer to help, one guy offered me a silly low amount to buy the jag.

Correct steering column mount parts arrived last night so will get the old column back on this weekend.

Been pulling 12’s last 2 days so no work on car. I have a 3 day weekend so progress coming.

Dynamat mostly done. Ran out and had to use up the rest of our killmat from the jag. Hubs OCD didn’t approve but will never be seen. 😛

Going to install heat barrier on inside of the firewall. Got the stuff from Lowe’s and making templates. Going to contact cement it up there any place I see the old jute/tar backed stuff was.

Also plan to label some wiring.

On the inside of the front, where headlights etc go, does that stay bare fiberglass or is it painted black like the engine bay?

Why do you want the column in? It'll just be in your way and you'll need to drop it to get the left dash pad in. Brackets, fine, put them in. Check that the rag joint is correct for your shaft diameter/shape and the spline count, make sure the column's firewall gasket is in good condition, bolt threads are all clean and spin-on ready. All appropriate to do now.

Putting the column in is more complicated than bolting it up. You have to make sure the steering gear is centered (raise the front end) and the steering wheel is clocked to drive straight forward. This may involve rotating the rag joint a spline or twenty.

Hang the wire harness and duct work into position rather than supporting with the column.

Great advice. Hubs has been wanting to make sure everything lines up. Will hold off on final install till drivers dash/ etc all in for sure!

You won't know if it lines up until the left dash pad is in...and that is the last interior soft piece (except for column trim) to go in and it isn't adjustable. Fek, you'll be cussing that mofo all the way in...and then you'll figure out you knocked a dash bulb out, or worse, dropped it inside the speedometer...rattle, rattle down the road. Get it in place and do a final light check before tightening screws.

There is tons of adjustment on the position of the lower bracket which attaches to the column. Probably 1.25" front-back and 1.25" left-right.

I’ve heard it’s a “Bitch” for sure. Since you have done it before you’ll know the tricks. What time are you heading over? 😂😂😂 I’ll cook steaks and make old fashioned(s) 😛

I love steak and Manhattan’s, but an old fashioned will do. Unfortunately I’m busy that day. Lol.

I thought we were friends. Friends don’t ask friends to install a C3 interior.

I’ll blather on about how I would do it as long as you will listen. Feel free to tell me to stfu when you figure out that what worked for me might not work for you.

What do your patients say when they see grease under your fingernails?

Busy eh?

Blather on.

Thing is, you ask and you'll get 20 "differing" answers. Guess we go with the most common, best reasonable response.

Researching best order to do it. ID and labeling wires/plug ins comes first, since NOTHING was labeled as I did not take it out/off.

I wear gloves 90% of the time working in yard/on car etc). Usually Nitrile gloves at least.

We cannot have artificial nails or even painted nails per hospital rules so they are short and boring anyway.

Rule went into effect after a baby died from infection they traced back to nurses nails.

I don't mind longer nails for a special event or evening out, but I do too many projects to have them on the regular anyway.

As I told Jim earlier.

A car guy came by and said we should get rid of the quadrajet and put in edelbrock carb and add petronix ignition

Another person recommended HEI.

Another person said just get someone that knows timing and get it set up to run correctly.

So many opinions. 😵*💫

Quadrajet currently in the vette.

There’s nothing wrong with a Quadrajet carb if it’s set up properly. Just have to find someone (probably old) who knows how to do that.

Agreed.
Lars Grimsrud out of CO is the guy to get a hold of, or at least his paper on how to set up QJ carbs.
My 72 ran like a scalded cat after Lars tuned it up.
