Having a cup of Starbucks coffee and a lunchbox in your corner like you are in for a long hard day of begging does not give me a "feel good" reason to give you my hard earned money. You could have at LEAST put it in a 7-11 or McDonalds cup so I would feel a tiny bit sorry for you.


Oh and BTW-Decide early on which leg is gimpy. Switching back and forth is just dumb.

There is a dude in downtown Columbia that has been wearing one of thoes temporary velco leg braces for about a year now. he has a route that he walks every day and it is pretty substantial like about 4 miles. always by my wifes office at lunch and always sitting on a bench about 1.5 miles away during evening rush. never asks for anything though, I imagine he sleeps at the shelter on Assembly St.

I saw one begging bastard leave his corner one day, and go around the corner about 30ft, and get something out of his CAR!

I sat there and watched him for about 15 minutes while I ate my lunch. He collected at least a dollar bill from 3 people. That's $12/hr tax free. Assuming 40 hrs/week and adjusted for taxes, that's about $30k/yr. Not that I've put much thought into it.

Stossel had a piece on this a few weeks ago. why dig ditches in the hot sun if you can just sit in the hot sun (or shade if you are clever), listen to tunes, engage in stupid conversation as you choose, and net more?

you don't have to send .gov 15.2% for FICA, nor 25% for FIT, nor 3-10% for state income tax, nor get some BS permit or license...it's all net cash that you can treat as a 'gift', and gifts are not taxable to the recipient....

yeah, have given it some thought too.
