Leading a life of lies has a funny way of catching up to people.
It's called Karma.
It just a shame his wife was caught up in it.
If he could kill her; then he never did realize what was most important.

He considered her as property, not as a person.

I was thinking about this earlier. Spot On.

When you truly love a person, you have to consider their feelings, their desires, and their faults. Through the years, there have been many women I admired and sought a relationship with, only to get rejection. And you know what? That's perfectly fine! Rejection only helps you weed out the people that you probably shouldn't be with in the first place!

If you truly love them, as a person with a soul, you give them their space and move on.

As pointed out throughout this thread, Dan was a Narcissist. He put that woman on a pedestal only to try validate himself. Everybody is flawed. Nobody is perfect. I don't know why he didn't learn that lesson, but he didn't.

He doesn't deserve any respect IMO. His selfishness resulted in the death of an innocent person.

He may have been a nice guy to talk to (for some) in life, but he ****ed up. And ****ed up BAD.

The only victim here is his wife.

Actually, narcissists often threaten but rarely commit suicide. They have too much to lose if they kill themselves. In many cases, narcissists complete one half of the murder/suicide, then chicken out when it comes to taking their own life. I'm glad to see he was able to summon at least a little bit of courage at the end.

From his son Jesse:

Quote:
Jesse revealed that his father was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia and paranoia. He said it was triggered after his grandmother's passing last year. He told Esposito that he had been worried about his father's health problems for a while. However, he says he has many fond memories of his father before the illness took over.

I was wondering when the gun rights issue would appear. Some people there need to keep their opinons to themselves also.

God I don't know man. You would figure that shit would manifest itself earlier on in life.

Jesus, I thought you had to pass all kinds of mental evaluations to become a Peace Officer.

I'm not a Doctor or Mental Health Pro, but just damn. Maybe that is why he was forced into an early retirement?

What makes you think he was forced into an early retirement? Most police officers can retire at 50 years of age, some with only 20 years on the job. It's still a young man's game. I think he had 30 years on and was over 50 when he retired.

Hi Robert.

I thought I saw something at the other place he was forced into retirement? I could be (and probably) am wrong?

No.
He met the criteria and took early retirement since he could stay on Priscilla's insurance until medicare.
He forced his former boss into retirement.

I will miss his post. He is in a better place now.
Just a thought..

When Chas made the comment that he wondered himself how people would talk about him when it was his turn to go...

No way could I be the only one that thought that he will also snap someday..

That's a prophetic thread from a year ago... where Dan said several times he'd never commit suicide if Priscilla left him.

That's pretty cold in my book.
She didn't know what hit her.
Jesus.

This should give just about anyone a shift in perspective. When I read it, I hugged my wife. To do something like this is completely unfathomable to me. I'd never intentionally hurt my wife, let alone execute her like an animal.

****.

Assumption based on her lying in bed. What the person is wearing etc. while under investigation these details will not be posted. The folks in the know on the case will have that info.

This whole thing still blows my mind. One thing that came to thought is that he would not want to go to prison because it is likely that he would run into former customers there and have a rough time.

Regardless, he did the chickenshit thing by taking someone else out because of his own problems.

I feel sorry for their friends and families.

Story in the story?

The wife doesn't show for an 11:00 shift
Cops at her door at 11:30ish
How does this happen

Sounds like the department
knew of trouble in paradise

Seems common
That those who kill
Often had previous interaction
With LE and/or mental health
And authorities dropped the ball?
Or protect brother in blue?

Turns out he had some serious mental issues towards the end, his Son posted.. I would like to think that the Dan we once knew would never have done this.

I'm sure more facts will come out over time, but no one will truly ever really know what was going on inside his mind that day.

I know it is easy to speculate many scenarios....

But another thing I have wondered about is the times of their deaths..

For some reason the thought went through my mind that she was already dead, possibly for hours or even all day, and he was regretting what happened for some time, but when the calls from work were coming in and he saw the number on caller ID, he knew they would be on the way.

Like I said, way to easy to write our own versions...

But I do not believe this was planned in advance, he knew enough about Law Enforcement to have at least tried to create a plausible excuse, or defense.
