Here's the way I look at it. The federal government made it profitable to offshore many US industries, taking those jobs with them. Thanks to the Department of Education, today's children are graduating high school barely able to read or do math. Put the two together and you have a situation where people are now trying to make careers out of working at fast food restaurants. What else are they going to do? Even if there were jobs out there, today's youth certainly aren't qualified for them.

So you have people approaching thirty years of age, with mountains of college debt from their BA in Underwater Transgender Basket Weaving, living in their parents basement, driving a clapped out Honda with 250,000 miles on it, who cannot survive on their own but somehow manage to have the latest in cell phone technology and neck tattoos to proudly announce their ignorance to the rest of us.

Yeah, flipping burgers is about all they have left. And, dammit, they want to make six figures for doing it.

Inflation is mostly caused by the government controlling (expanding) the money supply.

Rising prices (in this case) are a reaction to the government-caused inflation.

Florida Min wage for tipped employees are $8.98
for students $4.25
for small businesses with sales under $110k $4.00
for agricultural $7.25
for government and non profit employees exempt

Lots of places still have pretty decent specials. Mc D's has sandwich, fries and drink for $6.49 and I don't think they ask for a tip at the register.
I've seen several driving by with signs advertising $15 to start.

I can see a lot going down in the next few years. With rents rising as they are, these places are in a tough spot.
How long will they last with $6 black coffee and $7 iced tea?

Same with all the apartments/condos going up, everywhere, will be interesting.
