I don't have those on my early '68 (not that mine is a standard for anything really), but I generally don't drive at night....too many deer.

Not sure how it affects engine cooling which I understand was a bit of an issue with '68 BBC's. Hell, I'm having a recent cooling issue with my SBC.

Re: Batteries. I've had an XS Power glass mat (AGM) battery in mine for 8 years. It sat on my concrete garage floor for a few of those years and endured Texas heat. I paid more than $300 in 2016 and it is still going strong. I think it is made by North-somethingorother in the US. https://4xspower.com/collections/d-series-batteries

Mine's not quite as cheesy looking as the current line-up, but only slightly. As long as I don't have to look at it, it is easily the best battery purchase EVAR!!!

Alright. I’m to freakin tired to post up everything in 2 places. Ordering parts for the console/clusters as still trying to prepare for that nightmare.

Please read thread over there and see if you can figure out what the heck is going on with modifications DUB did and what I still need to complete on clusters.

What in the sam hell cluster () fuck is that?

I wouldn't give $22/each for them like Zip wants but I have no idea what that shit is you've got going on. With this (below), push bulb in and twist to secure and the push the socket into the hole. Done.

A regular Walmart battery has the best warranty around and can last many years in a garage queen if kept with one of these.

Richard said what has been done is good. But I don’t know how
to complete it.

I was waiting for someone to chime in with an Bidenflation comment...although justified, not relevant to this most excellent '68 final assembly thread.

Blitz black for the win.

Plan to use insulin needle to put white paint in the PUSH button.

Still need to polish chrome edge and add metal support to help prevent breakage during install.

Got rear filler panel in (yes it has been modified). Still have to figure out exhaust.

Got drivers side rear bumper on last night too. No picture. What a huge PITA, new bolts thread fine till you go to install bumper. They have to line up exactly perfectly to thread.

Not easy when you can’t view the hole you’re aiming for. Now I know why Guys have such a hard time hitting the “target”.

Off to work.

Might be obvious but the picture looks like the exhaust will blow right at the filler panels. You will not like that result Make sure to bend down or add a curved pipe to blow down towards the ground.

I vote for straight pipes and to cut an arch out of the filler panel and put the bezels back on. Downward pipes are so late 70's.

Have ZERO intention of leaving as is for the very reasons you explain.

Do not have budget for side pipes. Thinking about turndown something like this (despite Kevin’s late 70’s disapproval 🤪🤣&#128514

I actually like the filled in rear panel (now that we have it) but liked the 68 rear exhaust cut outs and bezels as well. Also no budget for having that all refabricated and painted. Had already purchased brand new rear exhaust bezels so DUB knew I didn’t want side pipes.

Surely something like this is doable:Name: IMG_4008.jpeg

I’m not a fan of the turned down exhaust tips, but with the modified rear valence your options are limited without spending more money. Any exhaust shop can bend tube and make tips like that, and it shouldn’t be very expensive.

I ALWAYS hit the target, and I’ve never had to ask for directions.
