First the rock borne organisms would have to survive whatever cataclysmic event tore them asunder from their homes violently enough to achieve escape velocity vs whatever gravitational force there might be. Then said beasties would need to not perish while drifting in a frigid vacuum all the while being beset by alpha, gamma, and sundry other space rays and waves while traveling light years from their previous digs. Next they would have to survive the heating and ablation of entry into Earth's atmosphere only to crash violently into (probably) the ocean where they would be rapidly cooled. None of the above scenarios taken singly is conducive for cell structures to remain intact so I posit if galactic organic matter made it through to here that which was alive was no longer; but the materials may have added to the "primordial soup" from which I believe life on earth arose. |

"That would make a pretty compelling argument for panspermia."
No shit? I wondered about that. |
