Lice.

Daughter in law called yesterday to tell us our grand daughter's teacher sent a letter home informing her that a couple of kids in the class had lice. She checked grand daughter's head, and sure enough she found a couple. Grand daughter had been here last weekend for an overnight visit so I went and got a couple of those kits. Sprayed the furniture, mattress, and carpet in the kids room and the cushions on the couch. We checked ourselves and didn't find anything but ya never know so as a precaution went ahead and did the shampoo thing.
Haven't had to deal with this in over twenty five years, since my daughter was on a softball team. She got her own batting helmet after that.
We'll know in a few days if it worked.

BTDT, many years ago when our kids were in grade school. Giant PITA with the shampooing, cleaning bedsheets, etc.

When I was in school, it was always the "dirty" kids that had it.
Not anymore, for some reason.

Our neighbors have had it multiple times.
There are companies that come in and clean and tell you what to do to get rid of it.
It's hundreds of dollars for this service.

That was always the stigma. Ironically it's the opposite. The cleaner your hair the more likely they will settle there. Colored hair is difficult for them as well.
I can't remember my brothers or myself ever having them as kids.
My daughter got them once about eight or nine years old from a kid on her softball team. After that we made sure her and my son had their own batting helmets. Same for the grandkids now. Little girls are more likely to get them because they share hair brushes and accessories.
