The NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) system is down, which should have very little effect on actual flight opertaions. Anybody canceling and blaming the FAA is working it to their own advantage.

NOTAM is a on-going system listing areas to avoid like rocket launches, bad runways, whatever....but it doesn't ground you if not operating.

Well considering the FAA computer system is supposed to be down, using their website for further information might not currently be the go to source for updates. As far as the meme goes, ya think?

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration is suffering a nationwide technical outage and order airlines to pause all domestic departures until 9 a.m. ET Wednesday morning.

The outage comes as a result of the failure of the FAA's NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions) system, which alerts pilots and other personnel about airborne issues and other delays at airports across the country.

"The NOTAM outage continued with no current estimated time of restoration," the FAA website stated Wednesday morning.

"The FAA is working to restore its Notice to Air Missions System. We are performing final validation checks and repopulating the system now," the FAA said in a statement.

VFR flights could have an issue with being unaware of TFRs but as long as Brandon stays put all is good.

NOTAMs aren't the only way to be aware of things like that though.

I noticed that. Guess they just couldn't take a chance that they might upset a pilot who couldn't decide if they were a pointer or a setter.

I just spoke up because the FAA is so complicated that many times it gets misunderstood. Right now, all over the internet there is a dead panic as if the air traffic control systems are down, not just a system of notices for safety.

You do understand that computer systems are run by "IT Departments" full of "Professionals" who can't keep their hands off what runs fine already as they upgrade and ruin things on a daily baisis, right? This is 100% an internal issue, so OF COURSE they've spent the last two hours with two or three guys fixing it, and hundreds if not thousands of the rest of the staff leaking messages that it might be a CYBER ATTACK PROBABLY CHINA!!!!!
