Default Wheel Problem

I just have two new tires mounted on the rear of my 1995 sawblades and they mounted them on backwards. Can I just switch them?

You'd be coming and going. I'd take them back and raise hell and get it done right. And next time don't leave without making sure it is right

Thanks for the advice, but it probably ain't going to happen because of location. I was attending the Black Hills Corvette Classic in Sioux Falls, SD which is 250 miles away. I picked up a nail at the very edge of the tread where it curves up into the sidewall and was advised that the patch would probably not hold and the next day was the drive to Spearfish, SD for the week of the rally. Since the tread was getting thin, I had them put on two new tires on the rear, hence my problem. Wasn't astute enough to catch the switch at the time as I was so relieved that they even had tires the correct size and I could continue on from Sioux Falls in the Corvette caravan to Spearfish, SD. No one at the rally brought it to my attention either, which surprises me. Maybe they just thought I was a dork and didn't know any better. Dork part, I am not so surre of but now I will know better about the wheels.

Assuming directional tires here...

If both rears are currently rotating backwards, then yes, you simply switch the wheels side-to-side on the car. Easy DIY fix.

However, if only one tire is running backwards but the other side is pointed correct, then the incorrect-rotation tire will need to be dismounted, flipped on the wheel, and remounted/balanced by a tire shop.

Tire shops generally know sets of tires have to be mirror-mounted on the wheels to achieve correct rotation orientation once the car....Once directional tires are mounted on the wheels, there becomes a defined "right" and "left". You obviously need one of each. If only one is off, they mounted both tires in a "left" configuration, for example.

But if both sides are currently wrong, then the wheels were just bolted on the car wrong, something you can fix yourself at home.

Thanks. I checked and the tires are on the correct side (each tire is marked "left" and "right") so they switched the rims before mounting tires and mounting on car. I guess I will have to have them remounted on the wheels and balanced. Back to their shop!

Can you tell me which tires are on it? (brand/model/size)

Tires marked and sold as "left" and "right" would also be asymmetrical (specific inner and outer tread pattern). It sounds like this is what you have, and if so, you'd be correct...Both tires would need to be flipped on the wheels to achieve correct inner/outer orientation, as well as proper rotation direction.

Directional (only) tires can be a left or right until mounted, the tire itself is no different...They usually just have an arrow indicating proper direction.

Allow me to clarify- You and Duke are dorks. I am qualified in saying this, as I know you and the evidence is ample in this forum.

I don't know the shop guys, thus no judgement- but evidence is looking to show that they are not only dorks, but morons.
In any case- Duke and the teacher from the Dakotas are dorks.

There. That should wake things up.
