My life partner.
Together since 1969, married in Jan., 1972.
 Non smoker/non-drinker. Adenocarcinoma. 2.5cm x 2.4cm x 2.3cm mass removed 9-21-2021, metastatized from left lobe lung cancer (stage 4). Going in today to find out treatment regimen for lung cancer, as well as radiation type on brain injury site (3 options: Full head scan-10 to 15 blasts over 2-3 weeks, Gamma knife (directed 1 time blast at removal site, less cognitive loss), or clinical trial fractured Gamma knife - 3 blasts over 3 days). Will talk with Oncologist (in hospital visit "this lung mass has been around a long time") first to determine lung procedures, then Radiologist afterwards. Radiologist will work on both sites. Undetected until 9-17-2021 (I noticed tendency to drift towards the left in all mobile activities in the prior 2-3 weeks). She thought her long-hauler Covid symptoms were causing brain fog. It got progressively worse over a 2 week period. We went in for a Dr. appointment on 9-14-2021. Nothing unusual in the initial exam, a cognitive test was given with poor results. Blood tests (3 over the past year) all came back with normal results. MR scan of the head scheduled for 9-21-2021, but by the 17th, she became so lethargic that I took her in to the ER. Worst day of our lives. CT scan shows brain cancer mass, and mass in the lung. Transferred from local hospital to the Neurological center of Froedtert/Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, brain surgery was done on 9/21/2021. Stayed in the hospital until 9-30-2021 (recovery and therapy), released so she could get a Pet scan done as an outpatient, leading up to today's appointments. |
