Just my gut. Stuff opening too soon, people still have the COVID, not taking precautions, spreading it, virus mutates to a more deadly form, more people die, it gets taken seriouser. I hope I’m wrong.

Probably too many sci-fi books and movies.

Time will tell, but let's hope your fears are unfounded.

No, first of all it's almost summer and we all know that coronaviruses aren't very spready-aroundy in the summertime. Second by the time it is "flu and cold season" again far more people will have already been exposed to this than now, and any second wave will be largely limited to any people who already have some pretty serious co-moribities that haven't been exposed to it by then. There will always be people who die of some disease like the flu, when in fact they died of old age or a terrible condition of some sort and got the flu and that pushed them over the edge a few days/weeks before they would have otherwise croaked.

There is literally zero data that supports a bigger second wave, and there are tons of reasons why we can expect this to burn out soon and become about as fearsome as the other coronaviruses like MERS is now. Also by the time any second wave comes, people are going to realize that HCQ+z-pak+zinc is safe, effective, and greatly reduces the severe symptoms when started as soon as they come down with it, not when they are almost or already vented. And they will also realize that placing people on a vent is a death sentence for this disease.

Viruses typically mutate from a dangerous form to a less dangerous form over time. Since this virus was created in a lab, it started out very dangerous, what with specific genetic sequences inserted into a bat-specific virus that enabled it to work on humans. These included four different sequences found in HIV which is pretty damning and nearly irrefutable proof this virus didn't just happen naturally. My gut tells me this virus has already mutated a number of times and is much more benign now, and often the people who were exposed to it build up some antibodies to it but otherwise don't even know they "had it". Because really they didn't. Just like you don't get sick from the trillions of other viruses you come into contact with daily.

Another data point is the states that already have been "opened too early" for several weeks are not experiencing any new surge in cases. So that's even more data that absolutely flies in the face of a larger second wave. The reason China got a big second wave should be obvious. They kept the Wuhan district locked down internally, but shuffled 20,000 a day from Wuhan airports to international destinations so to spread this everywhere. They being the CCP. Because they literally did this on purpose. Then finally the rest of China is getting exposed to it because it's a friggin' virus and is everywhere now.

Like I said, too many movies and books. The Stand comes to mind, along with The Andromeda Strain.

Oh yeah, let’s not forget War of the Worlds.

I'll take "upcoming regular flu season" for 100 Alex.

Can you imagine the damage Dems can do by shutting off Christmas shopping?

Based on the media, I'd reckon. If there is a second wave, I doubt it would be worse than the first wave.

Not all people that are dying are critically ill, as some seem to want to claim.

I do feel that is is FAR less contagious as they initially touted. Having had close direct contact with multiple COVID patients, I feel strongly that good hygiene is sufficient in MOST situations.

For instance, the most sick pt. I had was coughing and hacking, had fever and I was in the room with her on and off for 20 minutes while helping her with a nebulizer (breathing) treatment. All I had was a basic procedure mask and used hand sanitizer.

The other staffers that contracted are horrible at handwashing.

I'll be glad when tuberculosis is over so we can open up the country again. I feel awful for the 1.5 million it kills each year, but we have to stay shut down until TB is under control...oh wait.

People not being nasty is the answer.

Cover your cough, social distance and wash those grubby hands OFTEN.

I support mask wearing in certain scenarios and with proper use are very effective. Problem is people have no clue how to correctly hand wash/sanitize but we expect them to know “proper mask wearing”??

Good luck.

Nice try friend.

No, it’s real. People I know have died with it and I have seen 1st hand how sick healthy people can become. I do however believe that infection control is doable with proper measures that many sadly refuse to take.

Just messing with you.

Yes, I'm sure that this disease is real and has killed many people. But I believe that governments around the world have overreacted, and in the process, destroyed more lives than have been "saved". But, WTF do I know?

Newsflash: No matter what we do now, if the virus is anywhere near as communicable as the media would have us believe, there WILL be a second wave. There will almost certainly be a third wave, and it is highly likely there will be a fourth wave. Don't take my word for it, look up the history of bad flus over the last 200 years. I didn't make this shit up.

Nothing shocking about that > virology.

A FAIR influenza comparison, some families come in and the entire household has the flu. Other families come in and only 1 or 2 people have it.

I can usually tell the individuals that will spread it through the entire house and those that won't, just by spending 5 minutes in the exam room with them.

The only problem with SARSCOV2 is that people can be shedding viral particles when they are not symptomatic. If you have influenza and are contagious, you have definate symptoms.

Then thousands of physicians, nurses and others were laid off due to lack of work. Now they’re reopening, at least here, and running TV commercials begging for people to come in; unfortunately many people who need medical attention are terrified to go get it.

So, you tell me, how much do those lives and peoples’ health being destroyed matter to our politicians and the medical “experts” who told us we had to shut down everything to “flatten the curve.”
