I did about 300 today all in Indiana. Only issues I had were storms and idiot Tundra drivers that don't know what an accelerator is or how to maintain a speed.

Update - trip competed sucessfully!!
Made the trip Saturday.
Left at 4:20 am. Arrived in Wichita at 3:45pm - Left at 4:00pm. Got back home at 3:15am this morning (Sunday). 1,526 mile. 22:13:00 total drive time on the trip meter. 24.0 mpg average (26.1 on the way down, worse on the way back) Car was loaded up pretty good with the kid's belongings. Hit rain north of KC, Mo. right thru Iowa and Il, into Wi. Observations: 1.No problems getting gas(4 stops total), or food (stopped twice. Lunch for me at Mc.D's. dinner at Sonic for me and the kid. 2. Traffic was not a concern. Hardly any in the mornings, very thin the rest of the day. Drove for almost an 2 hours without passing or being passed by another car on the way down. 3. Every place I stopped at, workers were wearing masks. Most had gloves on too. 4. All gas stations I stopped had open rest rooms. Doors were wedged open. Urinals and sinks has sensors, so no touching needed. Didn't use a stall - kind of plugged up today - Used my elbow to push open one door all day. 5. People interacted with: 1 Toll taker in Ks. (handed over correct toll $$ to a gloved hand) 2 fast food employees (Handed over $$ to gloved hands, told them to keep the change - Sonic babe got a 35% tip and they still fuct up the order!!!!). Also, the kid. 2 people living where I picked him up-no contact. They are both nurses, and were gloved and masked. They brought the kid's stuff to the car, and I loaded it in, then left. Wham-bam. 6. Gas pumps were all self serve pay at the pump. Used a CC, then the hand sanitizer I took along after finishing. 7. Mo., and KS were completely open with dine-in restaurants doing a good business from what I saw in the parking lots. Wi opened up last Thursday, except for the large cities (Milw, Madison stillclosed) 8. Drove my '19 Ford Edge ST. Comfortable enough for this iron-butt trip. The kid drove for 3.5 hours, I drove the rest. Now 6k miles on the 1 year old car. Factory Navigation worked fantastic. Updated the maps before I left. Sync 3 update from Ford website. 2 weird notices popped up on the left trip info screen in the dash: (1) - Keep your hands on the steering wheel! (Car has lane warning sensors with steering wheel vibration - must have not sensed any resistance during vibration. (2) - Driver alert! Time for a break! (picture of a cup of coffee in the message .) Happened at the 18:00 hour of the trip meter. 9. Biggest gripe- but nice to have: Intuitive cruise sux big time. Approaching a semi-truck going quite slower, the damn car would slam on the brakes, then take off like a bat out of hell to re-catch the truck. Distance to start of slow down was ridiculous - started slowing about 1/8 of a mile from approaching vehicle at 75mph. |

Mostly 70 elsewhere except urban areas were 65 for short distances. All Interstate driving - selected shortage/fastest distance on the Nav. |
