If you want the extra HP to burn rear tires- what’s more American than that ?

On occasion, when I can find the time, I absolutely love to track. Nothing like it.

I have empirically determined that 400HP is pretty much the limit of what is usable on the street. Anything more than that is just bragging rights.

Same could be said for literally anything that propels you over posted speed limits. Truthfully, I find it frustrating. Since I don't track my Corvette, I probably won't feel any pain when it's gone. Driving it within realm of the law is barely even fun. And that is not saying I don't drive it outside the realm on occasion, but it is a real chance considering how fast newer Corvettes will get into triple digits speed wise.

Nah, no option for manual trans, so I'll be skipping the C8 I guess.

In a few years I doubt they will have manuals in any performance car.

Look at it from the manufacturer's warranty perspective. A manual trans has multiple items to wear/break under "questionable" use. An auto with the quick shifting will put less stress on parts.

Manuals are on their way out. On the humorous side, why do you think they call manual trans vehicles "millennium theft proof"?

Yah, I just do NOT like driving an auto car. Would MUCH rather stir my own gears thankyouverymuch!
I don't understand why they couldn't slightly modify a ZF transaxle (that is capable of handling a LOT of HP and torque) to fit with the LS engine family.

I hate to think that the only way I'll be able to get a performance car is to either get a Camaro, or jump ship altogether to another marque (Porsche, BMW, Audi all make performers with stick). Ugh.

I completely get it and the new autos shift so fast it is crazy.

I'm not liking the automatic in my 'Mero. Seems to always be hunting for the right gear to be in.

But, sometimes so fast is NOT what is needed! Feathering the clutch and accelerator, finessing around a corner in the proper gear is better than having to force a downshift to the (potentially) wrong gear, and over-revving, etc.

If I was drag racing, or looking for straight line performance, that would be fine. Sure, shift fast. Otherwise, the auto is usually pitiful IMHO.

While I am also sad about the no manual option, I'm very happy that I will have TWO C6 Z06's, the last of the large (7.0L) displacements, and manual transmissions. I will never sell those cars. After driving the Lamborghini Huracan in Vegas with the DCT transmission, I look forward to the C8 with a DCT, but I'll never forget my roots. I prefer manual.

GWiz still has all 3 of her manuals, and always will. Her offspring might possibly be the last generation to know how to drive a manual. She will teach hers on her cars, but quite likely they won't be able to buy a manual....this is about 10-12 years in the future is my guess.

Not sure where this COVID-19 will impact my build, but I'm still prepared to buy it. I'm guessing a shit ton of people in front of me will walk away from their orders due to the shit storm we're in. I'll happily accept a 2020, but if I'm forced to accept a 2021, that's fine too, I just expect to have the pricing remain intact.

Crazy times we live in for sure.

Very happy my line of business is still intact so far.
